90 day supply with 3 refills is a years supply.
Use Walmart, easier to find and the can transfer prescriptions with no hassle. -
My doctor would not allow refills on 90 day supplies. He would only do a 30 day with 3 refills. He would refill once if I could not get home. But honestly I never had a serious problem with my meds.
TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this. -
For your information, it gets worse in certain medicines (Not the ones you are taking..) where you are limited to 30 days and refills are issued by paper notorized script after you see a doctor and no more than two months between visits. No matter what, you will see the doctor within 30 days prior to the refill date.
Many companies do not send me home. They do not send me past cities that contain family etc. This was back in the bad old days. The theory is that you are loaded and rolling. Home means nothing to dispatch.
IF you really must get home use a magic word "Court" as a potential witness on a upcoming case. You will be beamed home. lol.
I really hope that the industry has improved home times for drivers. Too many have ties to home and need to be there. -
Sorry if my doc doesn't give me a script for 90 days, I will find another doc, especially if it is a mix of standard prescribed drugs for type 2, high BP and the other things. I used to also keep a paper script with me all the time while I was on the road, nothing wrong with that, docs will do that with no issue or they should. This way if I can't get something from Walmart because they don't have it in stock, then I can hit the rite aid or walgreens with the script and don't have to deal with transferring it then transferring it back.

Why not just discuss it with your Dr and find out your options? Without knowing what your problem is it's kind of hard to give you an educated answer... -
I could not agree more with @Steel Tiger. It isn't about your health condition, it isn't about your medications, it's about who you work for.
I've had to see a doctor monthly for almost a year and virtually every time was a different medication. Not the first time has my employer given me any hassle because of it. A friend is also employed with the same company and has some heart issues. Again, not the first bit of grief because of it.
Perhaps it is because of our seniority in the company, but I doubt it. We each have more than 10 years with our employer and maybe the new guys have issues. If they did, it would surprise me. It has been a simple matter of communication and planning.Steel Tiger Thanks this. -
If i read this correctly you have a 3 month supply of meds, so the issue is scheduling an appointment every 3 months. That should not be a problem for any carrier or doctor. Schedule your appointments on a Monday after coming in on a Friday. This way you only lose one day of revenue as opposed to scheduling on a Wednesday or Thursday, where you would lose three days. Once you have secured your appointment with your doctor, then alert your carrier in writing (Qual comm) or other device so there is a record of the request and the approval.
Remind your dispatcher at 30 days out, 14 days out and 10 days out. Failure by the carrier to meet this requirement, contact the Dispatcher's supervisor, HR, Safety and someone from the executive board. If you do not get any positive results from these actions...resign! -
You could always find an urgent care while on the road to get the needed prescriptions if you can't get home. Drop your trailer at a truck stop with permission, bobtail to an urgent care, then the pharmacy.
Ideally, talk to your doctor at home and make your appts. ahead of time and schedule your home time around your appts. Like others said, this shouldn't be a problem. The company I work for has gotten me home on time almost every time... a couple times it's been a day late or a day or two early... but that's easy enough to schedule around.... -
If you can't keep an appt every 3 months it sounds like you need a better or different company!
flood Thanks this.
