No, it is part because of the administrative nightmare of paperwork involved, and part money - the need to have enough to cover all expenses for a few months untill the checks start comming in.
I'm quite sceptical you can pull it off, but more power to ya if ya can.
If you are gonna live off brokers and load boards, you will make 50 calls before you find one who will budge on their price. That is if you even bother to negociate.
These posts we are giving you are gloom and doom, I know. Not really what you want to hear. I wish you luck. -

unfortunately, dealing with brokers and load boards is as easy as posting on this forum. I believe picking up and delivering those loads will be your biggest challenge! Trucking is not rocket science, but training and experience is a must for all drivers(who wish to succeed at it)

All of this is great info from you guys. I am an outsider looking in (currently on my 18th year in the Navy) and your feedback to this person was helpful to me....
Too bad this guy had to come off with an attitude.

Too bad he cared for no one's safety. All he wanted to know was how to make money. He said the securing part was (All this strapping nonsense is a bunch of trolling as far as I am concerned.) I hope he bellys up. People like that should not be allowed on the road.
