He has done a sleep study, but he only has a mild case of sleep apnea: 10 apneas per hour when not using a CPAP machine. Since his sleep apnea is mild, the CPAP machine does not help him much.
-
Yeah. That's the way to do it.
The MIGHT be a national database of DOT Physicals, but there is no national database of CPAP machine users. If you get a sleep study and use a CPAP machine, if you are getting a DOT Physical and tell the medical examiner administering the DOT physical that you don't have sleep apnea, the medical examiner will NOT know otherwise. It will save you from having to do a lot of red tape and save you from having to depend on the willingness of your doctor to fax the medical examiner giving the DOT Physical. What if your pulmonologist is a jerk and doesn't want to fax the medical examiner to say that you are in compliance?Phoenix Heavy Haul Thanks this. -
This is worthy of a new thread just about the national database. I will create it.
-
I am not arguing with you. But just out of curiosity, how do you know that there is a national database of DOT Physicals?
-
Because it's federal law. All drivers know this, or should.

it don't matter what it is, if he has it ... he has it.
-
Yep. I used to say that too.

I just finished up with my at home sleep test. I know I have sleep apnea and need the machine.
However I’m not gonna say anything when I go back to renew my medical card.
