I can only speak for me.
I don’t make the rules. Should be some way to get a second opinion.

Sure. It requires a $1,000 sleep study and the DOT clinic will only accept a diagnose from one sleep center that they happen to own and just gave the diagnosis of "mild sleep apnea" to the driver.

Yes, I'm jaded, but only because I've seen the b.s. Brother's company has a driver. Driver gets sent for a sleep study. Driver is diagnosed with no sleep disorders. DOT clinic refuses to accept that and demands a new sleep test before they will sign a medical card.
I have 100 stories like that from people I know and talked to personally.

I'm sure it helps some people. Just because it helps a few though doesn't mean it's not a scam.
Also, if you think you might have trouble sleeping, see a real doctor who will send you to a sleep center of your choice to get a diagnostic. Don't wait on the scam that is DOT physicals.

P.S. There are no rules for a sleep study. Congress specifically told FMCSA not to require sleep studies without following the rule making guidance. FMCSA simply said fine, we'll just recommend it instead.

You should ask them to explain the reason for sleep apnea diagnosis. Because 5.0 events or less is normal and not sleep apnea. I don’t think they can measure 0.7 unless someone it hooked up to a cpap machine. If someone is breathing without any cpap machine seems like the lowest possible number would be 1 sleep apnea event per hour. It’s been 7 years since my sleep test in a sleep lab. They hooked all the sensors up and let me sleep like normal. I was very high on Events per hour. I cannot see how they would measure less the 1 event per hour. You should get copy of you sleep study to see what it shows. You can see on sleep study when someone stop breathing for 10 seconds or more. 0.7 is not sleep apnea, I can only get numbers that low with cpap machine . Their is a guy who is can probably help just by watching his videos for free or someone need more complex sleep help he can giver personal advice by looking at a person sleep data.

You're not getting the point. It doesn't matter what they explain or expect or what the numbers are. As long as they sell that cpap machine and the revenue it produces is all that matters.

It should matter what the numbers are because you can prove you or someone doesn’t have sleep apnea. Insurance probably would not even pay for it because someone doesn’t have sleep apnea at 0.7 it’s not even close to minimum of 5.0

There is not yet a National Register, but Im sure its on the way. You probably could go to a different doctor, doc shopping is not legal I do not think either. I will not take the test. If they want to test me I will at that time go to a different examiner, the question for the physical is have you ever participated in a sleep study, does not ask if it was reccomended, just if you did it, so don't. Thats the time to go to a different examiner. One of the doctor here in our area thinks its a scam, so hes safe to go to, of course he's not Concentra, at Concentra you have a 80% chance of them reccomending a sleep study, this comes from someone who is not a nurse, or a PA. If you want to go by the number if your neck is larger than 19" you need a sleep study.

The cheapest way to go through a sleep study is through National Association of Small Trucking Companies in Nashville TN. NASTC has a program where they ship you a jacket, you wear it overnight and ship it back to them and they have a Doctor review the results.
