Do it right. Have your next job already lined up. Have that truck cleaned out with a simple duffle ready to roll. Have the truck at a terminal and not under dispatch. You can quit right there or offer a two week notice. I don't see the point in a two week notice for a CPM gig, but others will disagree.

Again, I don't think US Xpress is the answer, but you got a friend there that's happy. You just gotta make it work for you. I've heard of and met drivers that are happy at USA truck. I've met people at Mc D's that love their job. You have to want to make it work.

I did a full year at a reefer company. I hated it most days. But it was non forced dispatch, and the home time was great. They also didn't have an idle policy and there wasn't any hand holding. They just wanted their freight moved on time. The year flew by and now I am right where I planned on being when I signed up for the cdl course a year and a half ago. But, I knew what I wanted. Sounds to me your on the fence and don't know exactly what you want. There are a ton of opportunities out there, that aren't advertised as well as US Xpress ads on every corner of craigslist and job listing ads.

I don't care who your son drives for he will not get anything in writing there word is law take it or leave it.I know it sucks but that's the trucking biz for you. Many drivers wish they could get home more, but they know they can't so they just suck it up till they get that one yr in then they'll have a lot more options open to them.Your son will have to do the same thing.

Depends on who you goto work for.....

First time I met my current boss, we were at his office, we sat down and talked, then he put everything in writing black and white. and to date everything that was written is still as it is in real life now.

so some will, and some wont....but I guess the bottom line is getting things in writing can either save you or allow one to have a way out saying look, here is what was agreed on you don't wanna fix, you don't wanna do something about it...well come get it i am outta here....

You were lucky, there is no starter companies that'll do that.If so id like to know who.You ask them you would like it in writing they're going to dance around it and then you forgot what you asked them.

    Lowa3468 Thanks this.

well, if they making you promises, and such to get a driver into a company I wouldn't be afraid to ask them to put it in writing, and if they don't then I know they just blowing smoke and maybe I would rather go find another company that won't blow smoke up my arse.
