trickdaddy, your post has nothing to do with the op question

I read the post differently than you, apparently. No offense intended, but he was trying to get from point A to point B without getting hassled about his tags while moving his CMV as a leased o/o. I guess we all see things differently. Besides, I found this thread after doing a forum search for Hunters Permit. You are correct, my mistake.

Thank you for noticing my issue with the Iowa form. I kinda laughed about that one. OK, I will stop hijacking this thread now. Thanks for bearing with me.

I am om the way to orientation for a big company, not going to say the name,
I am an o/o, im getting my plates from the company along with my ifta. I have paid
My 2290 and have my own insurance and the truck is registered in my name. I also have a current dot inspection. how do I get to the terminal without being hassled
By dot? I have to get there to get my tags. thanks.
For one thing, as one driver here pointed out earlier, if you're not running on your own authority and fuel tax permits, you're an Independent Contractor. I am one leased to a mid-size carrier, so that makes me an I/C.
I learned this the hard way from an Oklahoma DOT officer. If you're not under an authority, you must stop at each state you enter and purchase a Temporary Trip Permit, and a Fuel Permit. Usually $10/each. Oklahoma and Missouri gave me 3 days. Note: Some states are POE states, some are not. You'll have to call each state on your planned route and find out their procedure. If a state is not a POE state, you'll have to contact them before you leave, fax the application you downloaded online, and pay with a card...they'll send or fax your temp permits. Or, if a state has POE's, you stop at the first one, do not drive past the scale, technically that's a violation if you do, and fill out forms and pay on site. Each state you transit. Once you have the base plate/authority, fuel sticker and annual inspection sticker from your contracted carrier, you'll be good to go. Pre-pass is worth the $9/month. -
starboy, he said he is leasing to a carrier, the carrier whose orientation he is going to can issue him a temp tag to get him to orientation. its done all the time.
