oh, another trick for trick for tri-axle dump trucks (don't ever do this with an end dump trailer!!!! Never ever ever ever ever until the end of time)
If your dumping somewhere that you can get stuck after your dumped.... like a snow dump for example. Back up to where you need to dump, really give her because so long as you can get to where you need to dump your load you'll be good. Lift the box up but leave the tailgate locked. When the box is high enough that when you release those hooks you know everything will come flying out stop raising, put her in gear, flip that gate switch and away you go. Just don't stop til your somewhere you wont get stuck.
Works good if you're hauling fill too providing it's not sticking to the box too much.
Disclaimer: Dump trucks are stable enough with the box up but as we all know any vehicle can flop sideways when you move the center of gravity up that much. Make sure your on fairly level ground ie. not full of rutts. Do this with an end dump trailer and you WILL (notice the capital W I L L there) end up putting the truck on it's side. If you try any of the above and something goes wrong I ain't responsible.
Be smart, be safe and always remember no job worth comprising your safety unless your comfortable it and assume the risk.
