So I'm curious as to how other companies view needing a recovery tow.
I don't mean "I took the escape ramp because I wanted to run 110 down dinner"
And I don't mean "I rolled the truck around a curve"
This is "I pulled into the soft shoulder and got stuck" or "I slid off in the snow" "I backed into the dock and it was muddy I'm stuck"
Getting winched out, how does your company view this?

Your poll confuses me. Yes or No doesn’t make sense when the question is whether it’s an accident OR incident. I think the bigger question is if it’s considered preventable and I think in all of your examples the answer is yes.
HoneyBadger67, Moosetek13 and Hawkeye72 Thank this. -
What happened that you needed to have a Tow/recovery truck show up.
-
If you pull on to a soft shoulder and got stuck, that was preventable.
Slid off in the snow? Always preventable because you should have been aware of conditions before you got there.
Backing into a dock in muddy conditions... again, preventable. Check the conditions before you put your truck in it.
Assuming no damage to the truck in each case, and if your company does not track things too closely, you have one option to avoid a preventable accident on your record.
Have enough money to call and pay for the tow truck to drag you out, instead of calling the company for help.
There are no 'incidents' as far as a company is concerned, only accidents.
And as Terlingua stated, your question and poll answers do not correspond.HoneyBadger67, Just passing by and gentleroger Thank this. -
@Mototom you need to change the poll. Everything is an "incident" whether or not it's preventable, or non-preventable. Maybe get with the mods an delete the thread, or ask them to change the poll questions.
Rubber duck kw and Mototom Thank this. -
I think getting stuck is an incident. These days that could mean anything and could affect your career for years. I'm sure the boss thinks getting stuck was preventable, sitting in their office chairs, and you should know what looks iffy, I've never been towed in all my years, but it can happen. The way things are today, it's almost better to pay the bill yourself, and not tell the boss.

And no I'm not asking this about myself, my situation is unique and viewed as part of what I do for a living.
What made me post this was seeing a Werner driver in the ditch and him talking about how he is worried about getting fired.
Knock on wood I've never been offroading unintentionally but if I did I don't think Bob would hold it against me if I didn't smash his truck up.Coffey, Rubber duck kw, Cattleman84 and 3 others Thank this. -
Bean Jr., Cattleman84 and God prefers Diesels Thank this.

Yes it's ALWAYS going to be the drivers fault......
End of conversation -
To be clear, getting stuck in a dock or parking lot isn't the same as making your own exit ramp on a highway. THAT, I think, would be considered a chargeable.
Rubber duck kw Thanks this.
