You can't trust all carriers either, even if they have their own customers.
Carriers can broker their own customers to themselves or flat-out photshop rate contacts.
I have first hand experience of that.
ABC trucking can also have ABC Logistics.
ABC Logistics sells loads to ABC trucking and then you won't know the difference.
That % of load you're getting can very easily be a % of a %.

Absolutely I agree. I myself have no interest in leasing on to anyone.
I personally know of someone that has a lot of trucks leased on to him, he's not a small time operator.
And he could not be more proud that he steals off of every single solitary one of those trucks.
I have no idea how he sleeps at night or how he can look in the mirror, but none of that bothers him. He just is happy counting the money and he literally laughs all the way to the bank.Rideandrepair and Kenworth6969 Thank this. -
Stuff like that happens all too often.
I've caught multiple carriers stealing from me and am done after that. Even one with direct customers.
I'd rather deal with brokers and load boards than have my own carrier lie and steal from me.Cdemars316, Dino soar and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
lesser of two evils. At least with brokers you know you’re getting shafted.Rideandrepair and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.

I agree. I know so many who have leased on to others, just to barely get by. I don't get it.
I have no experience in that though, so maybe there are decent options.
For me, i wan't complete control. Go where and how I want, after gauging where to make the best $.SheepDog, Rideandrepair and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
The difference is the carrier I'm leased to I expect to have my back and be trustworthy.
I can say no to brokers and move onto the next one.
If carrier I'm leased onto has their own customers and they're playing games with the rates I can't say no. Only leave which I've done.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Now that’s some funny truth!Rideandrepair Thanks this.

My worst with my own Authority is still better than being Leased on, or as a Company Driver. It’s easy to get discouraged with such crappy rates. But nothing lasts forever, good or bad. I’ve worked 3 jobs in 7 yrs.local, driving a 6 wheeler, making deliveries to restaurants and stores. That was hard work. Got my CDL in 1992, had 3 local T/T jobs in 3 yrs. Worked 6 mos. for a OTR Carrier. Bought a Truck, leased onto them for 7 yrs. Another Carrier for 1 yr. The longest Job ever was the 7 yrs. Leased on. I only lasted that long because I never saw a Terminal. Eventually I got tired of that Job too. Now I’ve had my Authority since August of 2004. 18 + years since I’ve dreaded going to work. No regrets, except I should have done it sooner, when I was younger. Once I turned 40, I figured it was now or never.

In this Economy it’s better to drive a truck for someone and let them deal with all the headaches than deal with all the ######## and end up making Pennie’sDino soar and Rideandrepair Thank this.
