Well...got confirmation from poly, they have received my app. Weird thing is,that's all they said. Didn't say if it was being processed though. Maybe it's the same thing...I guess I'll give it a few weeks and keep my fingers crossed.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Hey folks,
I have 2 questions for ya...
1. Does Poly hire out of NC?
2. Does Poly hire out of CDL school?
thanks! -
I have not received any confirmation that my application fax has been received at Poly. I figure they get bombarded daily and have to sort thru the riff-raff....which takes time. I figure since I faxed on 7-3-12 and I think it might take up to 12 days before I get a green light, anymore then that, then I figure that I did not make the selection. I have had 3 jobs in 23 years so I am not quick to job-hop. The BS meter has maxed out with my time at Crete........MY TIME IS MONEY. Trucking invovles some weeks better than others.....but when the negative outweighs the positive than a driver needs to run the numbers, ie... time spent waiting until the next load pu's/delivery time/window, miles ect.

I faxed my app on 7/2/12 and heard back today...

It would be interesting to hear from a safety/HR/recruiting office-type from Poly what their application volume is like. I'm sure its staggering. jdrentzjr or chemster or someone should try and ask sometime when they're in GP.

Poly requires at least 1 year of over the road experience. They do hire out of North Carolina. -

I like working here so far. I compare my experience here to what I had at Crete and I am glad I moved. Here is a breakdown of positives and negatives.
Negatives: 1. As new man on the totem pole, you are given an old truck.
2. Our shop in Grand Prairie is a glorified Walmart oil change center and not much more.
Positives: 1. Great pay. $.48 off the hub loaded and empty. $30/stop after the 2nd stop on a trip. $50/month cell phone reimbursement.
2. Time off policy: You are allowed up to 7 business days off after you empty out before you have to accept another load. All they require is that you average 2000 miles a week for the month.
3. Outbound dispatch is not forced. I get load offers and I decide if I want to run them or not.
4. They leave me alone while I'm on the road. My Qualcomm very rarely beeps.
5. I'm treated well by the office and they already know me by name and I've only been here since March.
6. Great road service. You notice that I said our shop in GP is not the best. Well, the road service we use is excellent in my experience.
7. Length of haul. In an era of ever shortening loads, I love the old school experience of getting 2200 mile loads across the country.
8. On our "mom and pop" loads, I get to set my own delivery appointments. It's nice to get one of these that runs through the house. I can set my appointments out a few extra day if I want to stay at the house awhile.Last edited: Jul 7, 2012

Deadheaded out of Maine down to Connecticut to pick up a load of recycle plastic and take it to our plant in Cottage Grove MN. 1600 miles round about including deadhead.
