Welcome Gunny, if you want to start a new thread just go to the Maverick List and look for the blue button that says NEW THREAD. Or you are more than welcome to post on this one as it's within the same subject. Your choice, good luck.

If you did 670 miles and had 20 min. left on drivetime you definitely were rolling along. Best I ever did was 635 with about 15 min. left. But I very seldom drive faster than 57 mile an hour. So I figure 4 you to do your 670 mile run you ran 65 mile an hour all day. There is nothing wrong with that but you sure won't get nice big fuel bonus checks that way. Not trying to tell you what to do, I just like the free money with the fuel bonus. -
My trainer ran 500 miles yesterday at 58 mph. Actually made for a smoother ride.

I'm sorry, meant to say driving instructor.

Thanks for the info on the thread. I started one to keep my family informed. It's called Buckeye hauling Maverick Glass.

You are correct Sewerman, 65 mph all day. I wanted to see what I would get for MPG at that speed so I could tell how much of a difference I would get at slower speeds. At 65 I got 6.6 mpg, this was all flat land driving. I've since ran a few days at 62 mph and really haven't seen much of a difference. My trainers truck was an '07 also and had been cut back to 60 mph (because of poor fule mileage) and we never got over 5.8 mph with it. There must be some real differences between trucks.
I like driving 62 because it gives you a little extra to get around someone on the interstate. So many times you find yourself behind someone doing half a mile an hour slower that you are and passing them would take a couple of miles, but with 3 mph in reserve you can speed up for a minute and then reset your cruse.
I have no idea how some of you guys are getting nearly 8 mpg unless you drive down hill all day with the wind to your back. -
Let me know what you get for fuel mileage. What year truck are you in? And hey, congratulations on getting out of NLR!

Looking forward to following your training and meeting up with you one of these days. Good Luck!

Funny how things work out, Friday night I made to Jackson TN Ext 85 on I-40. There is a new Pilot with a Denny's attached to it at this exit. It's about 25 miles from the in-laws house so I called them up and my father-in-law came out. We had a nice dinner at Denny's. He got a real kick checking out the rig. He worked in shipping and receiving at a manufacturing plant for many years so he's somewhat familiar with trucks. That was years ago so he was really intrigued with the technology we have on board today.
I got back on the road about 3:30 am Saturday and headed for the house. The drive through the green valley (I think that's what its called I-40 east TN) was amazing. Clear blue sky and all the trees were at the peek of leaf color. One of those days I was really glad my office had windows.
Deliver on Monday 3 hours from the house, that will give me just enough time for my 36.Last edited: Oct 16, 2011
