if you have chose to go flatbed and you are brand new to trucking Maverick is the way to go.

So how do you compare maverick to tmc and Roehl ? I am filling out apps and trying to talk to drivers and I am interested to hear what current drivers on this forum have to say. Plus if you are an i/c how is their lease program. I start school thus weekend and trying to figure out the best way to go. Thanks.

Sorry about not responding to several post this last week. I have real trouble trying to post from my phone so choose not to even try.

Maverick vs _______ you fill in the blank. You really won't find a whole lot of difference between the major carriers that will hire a newbie. You could be successful at any of them, most will be unsuccessful at all of them. What, ya, statistically you have about a 10% chance of making one year with any of them. That's just the facts. This job is tough on people, family and relationships. So I tell people to look at themselves first, companies second. I've been with Maverick for going on 8 months now and sometimes wonder if I'll be the one in ten or the nine out of ten.

Now having said all of that I'll say this. Maverick has done everything for me they said they would. And in some cases more. In this day and age thats hard to find in an employer. You will be hard pressed to find a better companies to work for.

Live loaded in Mt Zion again today. That's four in just over two weeks. Not a lot of fun that's for sure.

Shower have gone from a luxury to a necessity again as it heats up.

780 mile deadhead move today got about 600 in today. then trailer lights started acting up so I stopped. Will have to go over to the TA in the morning to get it looked at. These glass trailers need to be replaced.

    Hung out for the weekend
Picked up a load of glass in Corsicana TX on Friday going to Denver, 833 miles. Had to stop in Amarillo, TX Friday night to get the trailer lights fixed. That makes three trips to the shop in one week! One to get a new starter and pm on the truck and two trailers with light problems. Both trailers had lights out when I picked them up. I wish people would take more responsibility and send in a breakdown macro when they drop these trailers.
So even after my unscheduled stop in Amarillo I still managed to get into Denver by 13:00 on Saturday. Called the consignee to see if they were open, but they weren’t so went to the pilot of 70 downtown Denver, what a dump!
Today I got up early as usual and had nothing to do. There is a Streakin’ Beacon in the same parking area as the Pilot so I had the truck washed. Then cleaned out the inside, did the windows, vacuumed it out and wipe everything down. Then I sorted out all my winter stuff and placed it under the bunk. Went inside the pilot for one more cup of coffee and gee it was pushing 9:00 already. Took a shower even though I had just taken one the night before.
At noon I moved the truck down to the consignees so I wouldn’t have to start my clock first thing in the morning even though it was only 10 miles away. So what to do? Did a wipe down of the truck with that easy wax hoping it will help in removal of the next layer of bugs. Polished my exhaust stack. Removed all my bungees from the tarps, sorted bungees and cut up old ones replacing with new. Took down all my ratchet binders and greased them up real good. Refolded my steel tarp so I could get it back in the side box. Cleaned out the side compartment box and reorganized it.
I have never had to sit around like this on a weekend. Usually you get a great load over the weekend that keeps you running. Well I’m home next weekend so that will be better.
