Talked with the "new" trainer yesterday. Sounds like a very well qualified individual. 20+ years experience, numerous safety awards, millions of miles, and he has successfully trained nearly 40 students!
He also has a since of humor. He told me he has a couple of rules in his truck. "First, if you smoke I ask that you crack your window. Second, if you fart I ask that you roll it down." I think we're going to get along just fine.
He's going to pick me up Monday afternoon, that's great, gives me the weekend at home.

Glad you took the stand! Nothing is worth yours or someones life!
seawheeler Thanks this. -
Amen to that!

That sounds like a guy I know...if so, he is probably the most experienced glass hauler Maverick has.

Whomever this "trainer" is should know better than to tell you that riding the brakes down a hill is better than using your engine brake. The only way using the engine brake is going to waste fuel is if you have it on all the while you are driving especially with the cruise control, everytime cruise gets you up to speed and stops accelerating, the engine brake will slow you down. Ride the brakes down the hill and you'l end up smoking them. If you haven't seen or smelled someone doing this yet, you will. lol
Also the batteries in the 11s and 12 are charged on a shared system so it's best to leave the inverter off while you're rolling down the road. He probably came out of an old 07 that had a bad battery and at night, his truck would power down if he had all of his items plugged in and turned on all the time. Not defending his you not using the dome lights at night, but did you ever think to organize your stuff during the day to eleviate that problem?
If there's a personality conflict and you don't think you can put up with his ways, let him know and ask Maverick to put you with a different trainer. -
Congrats! Hopefully you'll get a trainer with TMC that doesn't run his truck as a team after the first week like two of my student's trainers did when they were with TMC.

You said he was in a 2012??? The a/c is run on battery power?!? As new as the truck is, the apu a/c should run for at least 14 hours!
-
Lmao! tell him the apu heater burns 1/8 gallon of fuel an hour!!! like your wife posted "he sounds really brilliant" is that sarcastic sounding as i meant it to be???seawheeler Thanks this.
-
Good for you. as i said earlier, "he ssounded really brilliant" lol
-
I have the same two rules and here's another one i use if you fall asleep at the wheel, i will recommend you be fired, if you're too proud or stupid to tell your instructor you are too tired to drive then how many people is your pride going to kill when you're in the truck alone?!?
Looking forward to your posts on your experinces with your new trainer.
Gotta go fold laundry for next weeks adventures. Be safe
