you realize that most of us on here are skateboarders, riiiight? LOL. We are kinda partial to flatbed. But, I am sure that ALL of us, TCD, Glass, and Flats agree that you can't go wrong here. Good luck!

I think it will be more of a question where Maverick needs butts in seats. My goal is to pull for a great company and I'm more focused on the quality of the trucking than the frequency of house visits, so if I get on, I'm counting on the fact that we'll sort out the best role.

    Thanks.

    1. If you go TCD, get a passcard for Canada. Two of our three normal Canada runs are over 2,000 miles one way. If you can keep it running, 2100 - 2500 miles per week is not unusual at all.

    2. Yes it is. If you're not willing to do it for free, it's ALL about the money. :) That being said, TCD starts out at more per mile but we sit more. We get $15.00 per hour detention pay for every hour over 3 past the appointment time. Got the max of $150 2 weeks ago after sitting at Tyson for 19 hours.

    3. Plan to spend minimum 2 weeks out with either division. For TCD, if you stay out at least 3 weeks, they can really get you good miles. I stay out between 3 and 4 weeks and then get a nice 3 or 4 days off to relax. Can't complain.

Obviously I prefer TCD, because I tried glass and it was NOT my cup of tea. I do not have great balance and would've killed myself by now in glass.

And FYI, primary freight areas for TCD are Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. 80% of your runs will be in these areas. Plan to spend a lot of time in Chicago and Indianapolis as well. We are in the process of acquiring new customers all across Texas, so expect to run down here a lot too soon.

Why does it feel like my prospects for an easy Orientation just took a turn for the worse.

    Can't wait.

I'm in the glass division and personally prefer it because I like to move around and it requires me to work my ### off. After sitting for 600 miles, it's nice to get out and work. I know that I can stay out as long as I want. I prefer to stay 2-3 months out at a time and then 10 days off. I average about 2,850 miles a week and have had weeks where I ran 4200 miles. Other weeks where I ran 1800 miles. Holidays slow down freight considerably. Be prepared to haul glass and lumber into and out of Canada. It's also 25$ tarp pay and if you take down or put up a-frames, it's 20$. We stay all over the country but haven't been to the NW at all.

Any more questions, feel free to ask.
