I am in a refresher course prior to begining team driving. I have had my CDL since folks were grandfathered in but the company wanted a refresher course because I had not driven for 7 years. My question is to drivers that wear glasses.. I just had a pair of glasses made but there is quite a bit of glare at night, is there anything to help with the glare? My older pair of glasses does not seem to have the amount of glare associated with the new pair, any suggestions? :biggrin_25514:

Anti glare coating is a must for me at night. I drive in the Pac NW with lots of drizzle rain, so the glare from wet streets is a killer to me. Something else that helps is the yellow "shooter" lenses. You can get clip-ons to fit your normal glasses at your favorite sporting goods stores.

    wabar54 Thanks this.

Just had mine done. Polycarbonate scratch resistant lenses with UV and anti-glare coating. My eye doc told me the yellow lenses wouldn't be much better than the coated ones

anti-glare coating has a tendency to flake after awhile. it will appear to be scratches at first, but will slowly grow.

if this happens (like it did to me) there is a product called armour etch that will remove the coating completely (if your lenses are plastic...if they are glass DON'T DO THIS!!!)

then you can have them re-coated....or not (i decided not to)

The anti-glare and scratch resistance is great, for the 1 year that it is warranted for. At 1 year and 15 minutes........

Anyone konw of where you could obtain the anti glare coating for glasses so that you could apply yourself and not pay the eyedoc's pricing.
