If you pull a motor out of a truck that’s not a glider you have to replace it with a same year or newer year engine…..

lots of people do it tho.

How often to you see the DOT run the VIN on the engine? Just asking as I have never seen it yet to date.

The issue would likely be breaking down on the road and having to find a shop that will work on a non-compliant truck. Those shops are becoming harder to find.

It's more about the engine being pre eld. If you're running paper logs in a newer glider they want proof of it being originally sold pre eld

Yeah why bother. I'd just run a good ELD. It is worth the savings on headaches and just not having to buy DEF alone saves $12k a year IIRC.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Um, no they dont.....theres no regulation requiring it. Ive done all the research and checked before buying mine about 3 years ago. Nothing is required per DOT....

So what happens when you get asked for your eld log ? You hand him a paper one and say what ?

    Asking for a friend…..

If anyone is spending $12k a year in def there is something wrong with their truck. I spend $70-80 a week on def.

That’s like .10 per mile, my average is .01 per mile and I don’t get very good mileage because I like to drive fast and idle a lot.

Rideandrepair, larry2903 and jsnell Thank this.

I use my 80 a week for something I have to buy, not something I'm told to buy.
