    This is why the EPA is trying to put the kibosh on gliders,because too many people abused the system using VIN and engine numbers to screw things up. They’ve been acting like tree hugging Nazis towards certain glider manufacturers(Fitzgerald in particular).

    The glider is powered with whatever engine they put in it.

    @Rideandrepair can tell you which engines had piston cooling nozzles and which are better, if any.

    I am sure that earlier engines had them though. Perhaps a later DDEC system is more desirable?

I’ve Been asked during an inspection a few times. I explain. I carry this Letter, just in case. 2015 is before the deadline, for Pre emissions Glider sales. I doubt it would be a problem. Gliders have been around forever and will be. It’s only the ELD exempt part they’re worried about. Prior to 2000 is a date they settled on, since Mechanical engines may have still been available till then.

    Thanks! I assumed with my block being 04 it would be a problem. I dont care about elog, I do dedicated now and have lots of hours, it's just this version seems to not work properly with ddecIII . The install guy is going to email the provider and ask what they can do.

    Should be Ddec IV or V. If it’s a 14L probably a V.

    The blocks good, everything’s good. Lol. Don’t know much about it. I’ve heard that the older pre 99s like mine will work, just won’t show exact miles for the IFTA reporting bonus feature of the e-logs.

    The Benefit of the Glider is you don’t deal with Def, DPF filters and you don’t have deal with any of the Emissions BS. Your engine will run great, cooler and you will get great fuel mileage and the best part “hardly if any break downs!”
    Gliders are not illegal. Deleting your emissions is very illegal.
    I have a Glider with a Detroit 60 Series 12.7 in a Peterbuilt 389. It runs wonderful! The fuel mileage is awesome and it never overheated like my 2016 Freightliner w/emissions did. That truck was in the shop from the word go! My Pete was in the shop for usual maintenance and getting custom work.
    Also if your still looking for one I’m retiring and want a good deal, I’m selling my girl.
    Hope you have a better understanding on what a Glider is. Be safe driver

    Yes a much better understanding. I can't afford to even look at another at the moment. I wish you sale goes smooth and easy.

    @Elroythekid
    The 4th digit in your vin should be an X if it's a Freightliner/Western Star glider. Pete uses the GGGG in their VIN.
