I'm looking to add a truck and will either get a Colombia in the 2003-2009 range with a million miles for around 15k and then do a Detroit inframe for about 20k. So around 35k into it. Or should I buy a used glider with 500k for 50-65k? I know to stay away from Fitzgerald.
Glider or rebuild/inframe

If you are not afraid to put money and time into it I would get a pre egr truck.

Given those choices I would find a glider. I was just on Truckpaper and there are 8 pages of Columbia gliders. Lots of good trucks in that $60k range, and some that are on the verge of needing overhauled for well under $30k.

I’d go with a Coronado glider, that will probably need a overhaul soon. Then run it as long as possible, knowing the day is coming. A pre emissions12.7 can be inframed for about 10-12k. Otherwise find a deal on the Columbia, that’s already had the inframe done. The reason being, I wouldn’t want to invest much into a Truck with bad resale. Take advantage of the bad resale, from someone who’s already spent the money.I don’t want to spend 50k on a 25k Truck, and count on getting my moneys worth, over time. It never works out that way. Always another cost.
