That cat in a Pete is going to cost you almost $40,000 more than a 12.7 in a freightliner....but all these folks want to talk about is resale, are you sure your going to get $40k more on resale? Is that 6nz going to get 7 mpg at 75mph?. Great engines, and if you hauled heavy a lot I'd say for sure the Cat. But you haul a step like us, and I see you don't haul to much heavy ,like us, so what are you gaining by the big yellow kitty?

rollin coal said: ↑These are not gliders like you remember from the old days. These are turn key ready to work trucks already built with reman motors, trans, rears installed. Google Harrison and Fitzgerald. Sorry SHC not to jack the thread.Click to expand...Cetane+ Thanks this.

Well in the old days, most people built them in their shops or had the local dealer do it.
They would use your old engine and tranny/ running gear.
I used to work for a lady years ago that her partner would find engines/ trannies/ rear ends then they would order a glider and he built them.
Now days you have people who do just this for a living and mass produce them so to speak..
Not that big of a difference in my opinon. Just somebody else doing the work making it a turn key glider.
SHC, good luck in your choice..."semi" retired Thanks this. -
Company I was with , is building 40 of them . Have the first batch on the road. Went with the powered glider , that way the power steering , AC and all underwood items are factory. Alignment is a none issue, you tell the plant trans and rear end set up you will use, they punch the holes so spring hangers bolt right up . Local dealer is rebuilding our trans and rears out our donor trucks then putting them together. Price point is very attractive . Not having any emissions garbage is even better. All theirs are day cabs . Was hoping they would try some OTR trucks , where they (gliders shine). Going with your own donors is a huge cost savings!

Thanks all.
Aa for FLATBED's comment, I appre you following my criteria
i have enough "second hand" knowledge, I need some actually first hand owner input.
As as for resale, I could care less. I'll be keeping this as my last truck for hopefully 20yrs. Hence the reason why I'm interested in the Pete over the Coronado. They seem to be built better and tighter and less floppy plastic parts. -

Stay away from D&B, Glascow, Ky. A friend of mines boss bought from D&B and the truck wound up at Jerry Hoovers to get Straightened out. Allstate Ptb. in New Philadelphia, Oh. has salesman who has sold quite a few gliders. Bob Boughman(bookman) I bought and speced out a 389( not a glider)from Bob and he knows what he is doing. They work with Hoover, plus if Hoover gets stomped on any electronics the truck goes to Allstate. Their shop has some very good mechanics. They know what they are doing. I got out of the Bus. for about year and a half and currently have Ftlr. I bought from a friend. Had 2 new Ftlr's back in 89. Thr cabs leave a lot to be desired. I've talked to Bob about gliders and in my opinion he knows his stuff.
SHC and rollin coal Thank this. -
Does Jerry Hoover put adds in the Truckpaper?? I've not seen any gliders from Ohio posted.

I wondered about the company in Glasgow, KY. They advertise a lot of T660 gliders in truckpaper but when you call the truck is already sold.
