So in theory, you could take your VIN off an older truck and put it on a new glider?

swapping vins is illegal, technically if you cut out the piece around the vin you would be using part of the original vehicle.....

Or you could have a Plaque made up with a piece of the old cab and vin incased in glass hanging off the rear bunk wall with big letters.

In Memory Of Old Oval Pete.

I’m not saying that wouldn’t work, but seems like it would be difficult to register the truck. Insurance and parts stores use your VIN. They’re all going to show the 01 Pete 379 instead of your 16 Pete 389.

Like I said, I’m sure there’s a way to make it work, but I highly doubt a bank would finance it with a strange VIN that doesn’t add up, and the DOT officer might have some questions about your registration. It’s probably possible, but it wouldn’t be a piece of cake.

Dum question, but IF a person was so inclined, what would/could stop a person from installing a CAT 3406B into a 2021 Cascadia for example?

It's illegal to put a non-emissions engine where an emissions engine once was.

Only thing stopping/slowing you down is your bank account.

My guess is that you’d have a computer nightmare trying to put a mechanical engine into a truck that has a computer controlled dash. At least with an electronic engine you could probably find someone to make adapters for the wiring harnesses.

But all it would take is one person to realize you have an old engine in a non-glider and you probably won’t be very happy.

    What about dropping a new 389 cab/hood onto a 359 rolling chassis?

    Suck it EPA!
