I have a new EPA sticker on this truck as I purchased it last June from Canada, and that was required for the border crossing. I'll have to look and see what it says.
It makes no difference to me as this is a dump truck, and we are covered under other exemptions anyway, I just chuckled when I found the build date.

    SAR Thanks this.

The truck you see in the avatar had a remanufactured engine built by Detroit Diesel and installed by them in 2008. They told me since they were a dealer, they were legally bound to install an engine that was identical to the original engine, which was fine by me. It was an EPA 1999 engine. They issued a new decal in 2012 when CARB was asking for that info. There is a serial number clearly marked on the engine indicating it's reman status. I don't know why anyone would need to assign new numbers. If the number is illegable that is another issue.

@Oxbow , is there anyway to get a picture of that sticker. My 2000 (99 build date) hasn't got them anymore. I'm curious about this EPA info Studebaker is referring to. Not disagreeing with him, but I wanna compare notes if possible.

My other engine has the stickers and it says 3406E 98+ 475 on the door jam. @Studebaker Hawk , what EPA category do you think that would fall under. It's a 99 model CAT.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Not very good, I might have to try again. I can't get my phone to focus well in the dark. That, and the shop did some work on it and got some overspray on it. IMG_20171212_192227344.jpg Dang, you can't quite read it, but it says that it meets EPA and California CARB specifications for 1999 engines.
Let me try to get a better picture, and I'll take one of the door jamb stickers as well.

    SAR and snowman_w900 Thank this.

IMG_20171212_194608320.jpg IMG_20171212_194736623.jpg With the hoses to the turbo, and being dark out, that is the best that I can do. You can make out that it says that it meets 1999 standards though.
There are other stickers on the door jamb as well, but nothing related to emissions.

The EPA sticker is on the oil cooler.

@snowman_w900 , if you need all the details from the sticker I will write them down verbatim tomorrow (except for the French part).

I appreciate that @Oxbow . I wanted to compare what I had too.

Ya know, Ive built alot of motors and I never really paid a whole lot of attention to those EPA stickers because when I got done with the engine and ECM programming, as long as I KNEW what the engine was, it didn't matter.

Now that the feds have to know what they are, I guess it's time to start paying attention. I really appreciate you posting that.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Now here's why I said it was interesting, on my 2000 W900, it's got 11/99 build date.

My door jam sticker just says 3406E 475 98+, but then again mines a 2ws not 6nz, so I was curious how they would word a c15 on the door jam. 20171212_221912.jpg
