Just wrapped up my training at Knight Transportation not that long ago. We where all trained on manual transmissions. They where Eaton Fuller . Reverse was to the top left and low to the bottom left then four gears with a splitter after fourth then five through eight. Is it an eight, nine or ten speed.
Go ahead and laugh

Ummm....
Eight? -
So eight gears plus low plus reverse? That's a nine speed.

Hahahahahahahahahshahahahahahahahah
9 speed.Roger McG, truadvocate, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -
Stevens blocks off low gear, and calls it an eight-speed, because they're retarded. It's still a 9
-
A thirteen speed is the same but 5 through eight can be split. An eighteen speed is the same but they can all be split.
By the way, you didn't have a splitter, you had a range selector.QuietStorm, Bean Jr., Bakerman and 1 other person Thank this. -
When you're up shifting and leave the low side (move the selector) do you come to you and down or to you and up. To you and down (where Low is) then you have a 10 speed but if you go up then you have a 9 (which really is 8 + a "Low")
-
What? That would be a 10.
