Most trucks have a diagram of the gear positions either on the shift knob or a small placard on the dash directly in front of the shifter.

 

Where is 6th gear at? Same place as low only with the range selector up?

 

Let's do this the easy way. Op, is this your shift pattern?

 

We need a picture of the NO GO hole ,,,otherwise when you run out of real estate that's the big hole. Nothing else matter whether its 9, 10,15 ,,,no relevance

 

It's supposed to be a 9 speed but I treated it as a 10.

The first time I cross the box and get into 5th high (*Which is the low in low range) the truck's behavior will tell me for sure if that was a good or bad idea...

To be fair. There is a metal transmission plate stamped with dots and numbers in black and white somewhere in the cab. THAT is what you go by.

At the end of your "training" you don't know how many fwd gears you have?? Is the rest of your training this insufficient? Doesn't surprise me. And for the rest of you geniuses,reverse doesn't count.

 

You're so smart. Maybe you can explain why "Low" doesn't count as a numbered forward gear ... or does it?

 

I always count it as a gear. I know some folks don’t and that’s what makes conversations like this one confusing for the newer hands.

My 13 would be a 12 if ya didn’t count low.
