It used to be optional, but seeing some posts it looks like companies are really pushing for drivers to take part.
-
all new drivers are "automatically enrolled" in the per diem "plan", but if you sign a special opt-out you can get out after 3 months (or the next quarter)
So yeah, it's sort of like an automatic fleace(ing) and we are not talking about CR England either.
They claim your per diem, don't pay you a per diem, and you make .02cpm less. Sound like a fleace to me. -

Less they pay out of pocket (company).......IE more profits for them
Also do not have to pay s/s tax on that amount.....IE more profit for them
See wher I am going with this...................
This system only benefits a small percentage of employees It is better for driver to claim it at tax time to get full benefit. -

I took the per diem when I was at Maverick and it wasnt too bad. I was getting paid 0.38/mi and paid taxes on 0.30/mi. I coulda waited till the end of the year, but I dont like waiting that long for my money.

Nothing and I mean nothing above is really anything that is really that bad.. I only wish I had simple troubles like that..
Almost all companies will not pay you to go get a trl in the same area.
I bet you was paid the 150 miles to go get that M/T that did not exist..
frustrating yes but that's part of trucking..
Per diem is a rip off anyways and people should stay away from it..
What you are complaining about is nothing more then the life of a truck driver.. The things you complain about are on going with every company out here just about.. (small ones have a different system) -
Finally I got through and got the repair done. I called to let him know and he said he didn't have any loads for me. I asked if the nearby Walmart account had anything and he said he didn't know, if I wanted he could ask. I said ok, I'll see what they have but I want to see before I decide because Walmart stores and their distribution centers are run by incompetent monkeys with bad attitudes. He calls me back and demands that I do a Walmart load in Evansville, IN. I had the worst customer experience of my life their, and then a Schneider employee lied and said I didn't do something I actually did do regarding the Evansville store, and told them I did it three times. My dispatcher knows about this already, and I reminded him and said that I didn't want to do it because of serious concerns about the capabilities of Walmart and Schneider. He said now I HAVE to do it. I said, wait, didn't I tell you before I just wanted to see what they had? And he said, well once I call them I had to give them your name and now they're pressuring me into it so I have to force you. Well why didn't you tell me that would happen before you called!? I don't know....Eff you Schneider, and eff you too Walmart. -
Walmart is probably one of the easiest places for a drop and their docks are incredibly spacious also. The distribution centers are smartly located for trucks also. For O/O there is sometimes a wait, want you early, and can be slow to unload you.
Never liked the Schneider logistics people at their Walmart hangouts. The guards tell me to goto them to get your empty trailer info and I never do.
Try unloading at Daimler Chrysler sometime or ever wonder why all those trucks are sitting by the Atlanta OC road. I would say Walmart is easier than Target although they are similar.
