1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

    Hey, my name is Chris.

I am also interested in partner driving. I got my cdl-b originally because my buddies wife drove otr for panther. She wanted me to be her partner. But, now, she has decided not to go otr anymore and stay local.

I don't have any experience yet. But I am a hard worker and a fast learner.

Where will you be looking for work? I have been having a hard time.

You've got the OTR bug. I got off OTR for a few months and ran 10 yard ready-mix trucks. Wasn't long before I got fed up with 4am starts, 5-20 mile trips, and 14 hour days. Even though I don't make as much as I used to, I'm still happier running the open road.

I would rather stay home. I get the itch to see the road again sometimes, but then i remember all the bs. I hate sitting for a day or 2 with no pay in some hell hole.

I find local(or regional) to be better...I ran OTR the last year and recently switched to local/regional...I like the exercise, HOMETIME, not having to to find parking, HOMETIME, no late nights, never being far from home and did I mention HOMETIME and the money is the same or a little better than when I was OTR...I do work more but think that's a plus and will keep me healthier than OTR living...JMHO...And my wife is also happier which means I'm happy!

10 years, 7 OTR and 3 regional. Now I'm looking for local, but only finding more regional. I'll deal with it until I can find a decent local job, and if I get the urge for the open road... well that's what vacations are for!

The thing with running local for me was the long hours. Getting home late and getting up early defeated the purpose of me wanting to be home. I spend more quality time at home running the road and it pays alot more and much easier. The road decision was a no brainer for me.

Think I'm going with Knight for now. They have a regional run out of Vegas that's two weeks driving and one week off. That's a good amount of home time, I just hope I make enough in those two weeks to cover the week of no income. My bills aren't very much, so wish me luck.
