I live about an hour north of Minneapolis. Was OTR with Roehl Transport for 3 1/2 years and then got a job driving a city bus for a several years. Now I'm thinking of going back OTR after being away for 7 years. I have a good driving record, no moving violations, and never any kind of criminal history or drug or alcohol use.

Two months ago, I applied to SAV Express in Coon Rapids, MN, who sounded like exactly the kind of company I am looking for. About a month ago, I had a DOT physical, and passed, but the schlock doctor they referred me to (a chiropractor who does DOT physicals on the side) would only give me a 6 month DOT card because I'm overweight. Other than with him, I've never had a problem getting a one-year card. (It has always been a one year card because I use a CPAP machine.)

A few days ago, I received word from SAV Express that they require a 1-year DOT card and couldn't hire me at this time. This company sounds like it would be a great fit for me in many ways, so I'd love to find a way to work for them.

If all possible avenues to get hired with SAV Express right now are exhausted, I'm hoping to find another company that can offer something similar:

    - Dry Van
    - Terminal or drop yard fairly close to home if possible
    - No forced dispatch to the northeast.
    - Freight lanes of mainly the midwest, southeast and southwest.
    - Lots of long runs.
    - Good equipment with no driver-facing cameras.
    - I'd like the pay to be decent, but I don't need to get rich.
    - Home time every couple of weeks.

Does anyone know of any companies near Minneapolis that could do this after my 7 years out of trucking and with the 6-month DOT card?

Could I get in trouble with the DOT for that? Wouldn't they have a record of the current 6-month card?

You won't get in trouble; tell the new doctor what happened and say you want a 2nd opinion.

I think CVS Pharmacy still gives DOT physicals.

OK, I'll give that a shot. Thanks Chinatown!
