Yea I was about to make that mistake then I talked to grandpa who is a owner op and he said to start saving now and save a lot cause something will go wrong with the truck or the frieght. Im not a trucker but I have family full of truckers so I know a lot about the industry and I've wanted to be a business owner since a kid, I always said by time im 30 ill have people working for me making a good living. I figure 15,000 will give me a great ### backbone just incase the frieght slows way down or family issues or whatever else my happen along the way. Trucking isn't a walk in the park but im up to the challenge. Me and my wife been planning and planning and talking about it and we are ready. I say we cause I need the support and she is really good with managing money and making the right choices and she is better at communicating then me lol
going for PRIME!!!!

rollin, if you have that much in the bank before signing a lease with ANY carrier, you are ahead but the leases are set up for you to fail and for them to make more money off you. these big companies are greedy blood suckers. they pay new drivers crap, then lease them a truck, take it back, sell it again, rinse repeat and so on. its a sham. IF it were me, i would work for them for a year, get your experience, take your 15k and use that money to buy your own truck and lease on with Landstar / Mercer / Universal / Small company............etc. Keep your options open and really really really really really research.
hell, you will HAVE LOTS OF TIME to shoot the crap with drivers at the truck stops once you get started. listen listen listen (throw half of what you hear though) and go from there -
Yea I've thought of that option but not like the lease. The lease just came to mind when I was thinking about the credit part cause I can't even get a best buy credit card so im sure I can't get a truck. Like you said I have plenty of time to think about it and #### chat on the cb. I talked to one driving with transam on my dads cb and he was almost done with his lease and said it was fine but you never know if he was bullishing or what. I have looked at landstar and they seem good. I just need to do more research on actually buying one from the dealer and insurance and IFTA and OOIDA and all the other owner operator ####. The threads on here help a lot. Are you and owner op or lease? Maybe you can give me some info, it would be greatly appreciated.

I wish it would hit my credit report... 625 a week! ... o btw that's just for the truck.... but the trucks come with fridges and inverters!!! Once you become a coach with them... is when you will make your money.... been with them for 7 months now... only two negative.. yes negative paycheck.... gotta get use to that...
