Well said Sonny! Wyld, if I can learn what the heck a water pump looks like so can you! Seriously, the first time they had me open the hood I looked inside and said "okay whoever is the water pump raise your hand!". My instructor said "Dear Lord". Look around and see if you have an ex mechanic in your class then ask him if he'll go over the truck pretrip with you a few times. (with the truck) Put your hand on the part as you say it's little name. It helps for some reason. Also ask if it's allowable to say "and I'd check this" as you touch the part. We were allowed to do that so it helped if we might forget a name. I didn't forget any but it sure was good to have that calm.
Olddewankanobee, as I have nicknamed you months ago when I started reading your post, I want you to know alot of why I am with Swift is because of the precise, positive things you posted. Thanky Sir. Cookie, is the first one I was able to talk to on here thru email, helped me with alot of my jitters, especially while Hubby was going thru school and out with mentor. Nana, well your ups downs, jokes with others, your big stick, and overall go for it attitude made me laugh, cry and want to hop in your truck for a chat. Everyone else who arent aware I snuck into your thread and read from begining to end has contributed to my confidence in an imeaserable way also. I thanky all, like I said I cant thank you enough, and I hope, one day to shake yer hands over a diet Dr. Pepper and give huge hugs. lol no this is not farewell I just think ya'll are not thanked enough, ya'll really do help, believe it or not even the grouches lol.
Wyuldfyr, learn the pretrip in systems, i.e. Suspension system, brake system, steering system etc. If you know the parts in each one name them all as the system. Nothing bent broken, cracked, and it aint leaking. Good Luck too you. You write well, so you probably read well too. You should be fine.
PRETEST tomorrow!!! Please please pray. I have take everyones suggestions to heart and have prepared my best. Still nervous and apprehensive. It just seems, not only to me but to the rest of the class, that they could give ya a lil more time to study. We got our paper on what they want yesterday afternoon and the test is tomorrow. With all that information to absorb it frazzles and shocks ya. Plus we have 10 people in the class and one instuctor for all of us, so the time spent with instructor is very limited. Add to that I am the only Idaho person so I dont have anyone to practise with as my pretrip is diff from Montana, Oregon and Washington. If ya dont pass tomorrow you have the option of going home or staying til Monday and retaking it, but if ya stay ya owe them a precentage of the cost of school, where if ya leave you dont owe anything. I really dont have a choice cause our home is now the truck and all our stuff is in storage. I did pass my straight back so thats a plus. I hope I am not sounding to depressing, I am not depressed just stressed lol. Thanky again for your wonderfull support.
Will be praying for ya wyld! Keep in mind, things work out the way God intends. Do your part and trust things will work out.
Whew passed pretrip~~missed 7 so was happy with that. Was a pretty crazy day, lost 3, 2 who failed and one rudely quit. I will have Ed for my instructor, not sure if it is for the whole time or what. My brain is dead tonight and legs are killing me but par for the course lol. This ol lady is feeling it. I know ya'll were praying hard and again I thanky. Store em up please for State CDL test. Seems like it has been one stresser after another. Instructors at the begining of the class said dont stress, have fun lol. Havent found the fun part yet maybe it is near the torque rod or slack adjuster, hmmm. Well anyway, sigh I am gonna rest a bit.
