Hi yas. I now know how Santa feels lol. Picked up a beautiful trailer after last drop n went to sleep waiting for preplan. Got it in morning,,,uh take that really nice looking trailer up to Des Moines an drop it at Conway. What the heck! lol So we did...now we find out how much Swift must hate us....new preplan...bobtail to St. Paul Mn to pick up load to go to NJ. Uh...bobtail 251miles??? Oky we ask for at least a trailer to hold tractor on the road as it is really blown snow an windy. Hmmm no answer,,,sigh we start for the pickup. KK out of Des Moines snow really starts coming down,,,qualcomed to Lewiston,,,you gys really want this to happen??? NO answer lol...finally my DM trainer Steve gets on an says are you gys oky,,,be safe. We let him know the conditions...he says stop if yer not safe...finally someone who cares!!! We go a bit further wreck on the road...couple of semis an one 4 wheeler off the road...no injuries cept pride. Cleared up pretty fast...snow up to mid hubs about that time. Started rolling again...defroster on hubbies side went on the blink...driving bobtail in blizzard cant see hmmm. Exit to fuel stop is 4 miles...we get there an made very intelligent decision to stop...hmm well they closed the road lol. Asked for motel due to road closure and extreme cold...just -35 guess not cold enough...so we got one on our own. Checked into motel...qualcom wants to know when road will open...hmmm let me get out crystal ball an get back to ya. Turned on weather channel an turns out this is worst blizzard in known Mn history on record. Minniapolis airport completely shut down, roads closed all over, oh but the reality sunk in when Walmart announced it was closing due to the storm. 2 other Swifties werent so lucky...they are on side of road in ditch...they had trailers hmmm. When roads open we pick up load an will follow this storm to NJ. LoL
    Luv you gys

Be safe Wyld! Never drive in conditions you are seriously uncomfortable in :biggrin_25513: qualcom or not. Hubby has had a few good snow storms hit him this winter and he has gotten much more comfortable with it. But will stop if he feels he should, no watitng for a ok from dispatch. Seems you have to be a bit pushy with DM's :biggrin_25522: Hubby says, call if you ever have questions or just need to vent lol

    Merry Christmas E1!!!
A lil late sorry. We finally got to our daughters house, after I ranted and raved at em. Sigh, it really shouldnt be necessary, but apparently it is.
Lots of the nasty weather still in our path. We were on the 65 south from Chicago an got to c alot of bumper cars. I drove in the mess for about 1 1/2hrs before I concluded I was wayyy outta my experience and comfort level. Lol I was frozen to the wheel an seat, finally saw an exit an took it! Hubby was able to drive the rest of the way to the Columbus terminal an we just shut it down for the nite. He went in an was told he couldnt have an empty cause they were that teminals emptys. Geezzz. We actually were doing a favor for them the day before with those 2 loads as the driver who had em ran outta hrs due to weather. I called Lewiston an a recording said they were in a training meeting call back in 10min....I tried for an hour! Finally I call Phoenix who said no DM were logged in atm in Lewiston just one Planner. I called the Columbus terminal an got forwarded to Memphis, I explained the situation to a very nice fella an was told to pick an empty in the Columbus yard an go check out. We did an I went to check out an the fella said y did u pick up an empty an I told him Memphis said to....well get a diff one as that one is already assigned. So we danced their dance an finally went on our way to our daughters...on Christmas! Sigh...we are setting our hometime for Lewiston as I am done with my training hours an we are gonna talk with someone there about this an other messes that seem to keep popping up.
Otherwise family is well an I am getting experience in the snow, wind, ice whathave ya lol.
Hope everyones Christmas was fun and safe.
    Luv you gys

Am sorry about the Dr Pepper lol but suspect it will be worth giving up to not have kidney stones :yes2557: Good luck with the road test!! BTW, did you get much practice chaining?

Passed!!! Am a new full fledged driver...lol...stay outta the slow lane cause here I come!!!
I really didnt know the Dr. Pepper, or any dark color soda pop, helps contribute to kidney stones. Ya think being this old I would know everything! sigh
We are excited about our journey. Apparently our DM is supposed to help us get a newer team truck,,,good luck,,,lol. Ours has almost 600k mi an the fleet mgr here in Lathrop says they would rather keep those with high miles on em closer to a terminal. So I guess we start the struggle with our DM.
Oh well, I am pumped about passing an want to encourage those who are training or nervous about the whole Swift thing, you can do it!!! I am 59 this month an worked in the medical field for almost 20 years an I did it. As you have read I was on the edge most of the time, but I believe it is my nature lol.
    Luv you gys

No we didnt hafta chain, cept once in Mn to get outta the motel parking lot lol. We are being very cautious about driving in extreme weather, lol, Swift has different ideas an we have been in very hazardous ice conditions but the Lord led us through
