Texas-Nana...yeah, i cried on the range too if you believe it or not.
nah, just kidding. But one thing you could take from this Wyld, is that when you do feel yourself getting frustrated, to make sure you dont get tunnel vision, and make good decisions. That is what Swift will be paying you for....to make good decisions.

I wanted her to read it to see that she wasn't alone and that you got thru it, and she can too
But I suspect you know that
And wyld I am glad today was better!! And tomorrow will be better yetTexas-Nana and Wyldfyur Thank this. -
LoL thanky Cookie! Just dont point that stick at me please!
-
Wyld, don't they have another class following this one?
Things will work out, I really believe they will. My instructors told me it's better to make mistakes and learn how to fix them than to be able to do it "perfect" right from the start then get on the road and make mistakes but have no idea how to fix it.
That's what you're doing. You're learning how to get out of "situations".
I think you're doing great.
Cookie........I was teasing you. And.........she needed to read that someone else had a meltdown LOL -
Yes I needed to read that....I really am thankful you posted it Nana...its not all roses but if ya can still smell em there is hope! I actually read it while Hubby was doing his training at Swift and showed it to him when he failed his CDL the first time he took it. He was so down on himself that I said look read this and buck up! So now I had to say the same to myself.
ThankyTexas-Nana and cookie278 Thank this. -
"Sigh...apparently I lousy lousy at backing. Part of the problem today was 3 instructors told me to back one way and I thought I was starting to get it. Then another instructor was there today and changed how I did things and now I am totally confused."
I Agree: I roll up the windows so I cant hear them. I like to make my own mistakes and correct them as I learn. My instructors teach me HOW TO CORRECT MY ERRORS. That is EQUALLY important as the overall concept.
"To make the trailer go to your left, grip the bottom of the steering wheel with your left hand palm facing up. Pull the steering wheel to the left (towards the drivers door)."
Another concept. Pretend you are sitting at the back of the trailer on the DOT bumper driving it straight in. Which way would you turn to get by the cone and get in straight. UH OH I need to go to the left! Turn A lil to the left. If trailer is already bent, Tiny right turns are fine to the point that you will clear, then turn left to straighten everything out. Timing is critical. YOU make the call, and you will learn it faster. Remember turning LEFT will straighten the trailer. Turning RIGHT will bend the trailer more. Keeping STRAIGHT wheels will follow the trailers path. Dont let the trailer go past straight back or you will loose it and have to pull up. Always better to veer trailer a lil too far right than too far left (jacknife).
Hope this helps. I struggled a bit until I rolled up the window and tried it a few times by myself. Now I'm like "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT" I love this stuff. NEVER stop learning until you get a concept that works for YOU everytime.... almost!!! -
Wyldfyur Thanks this.

Well we did mostly shifting today and we all did great! We had about an half hour to practice backing and I got it in and did the offset! Seems like the truck is going in slow motion now that we went forward up to 6th gear lol. I have hope that tomorrow will turn out positive and thanky Oldbe the Lord is with us and He has sent so many positive things thru this forum. I am very thankful, I wish I didnt have such overwhelming downside when I get so anxious and frustrated. But He definately is working on that lol. I have had way worse things happen in my life and I saw afterward that He was in control, my emotions werent, just like now. I need to remember those things and how He brought me thru em and apply that to this situation.
Thanky one and all.cookie278 Thanks this. -
You must do things differently at that academy than they do here in Phoenix, we only do backing until that's passed and then it's on to offset, parallel, etc. How did you get it up to 6th gear? Anyway, good luck!
Wyldfyur Thanks this. -
AZS Thanks this.
