I don't think you are going to get one on the weekend, no matter if you go thru a service or do it yourself the state is going to be the one to issue it.

When you go through a toll booth, they have cameras to pick up your HUT sticker. Don't get any wild ideas that nobody will notice. The reason you don't see any trucks pulled over for not having a HUT sticker, is that not many drivers are dumb enough to go into NY without one.

Ahh all the NYC BS in another thread--lol--do whatever u want always better to be legal--but like the other poster said--until I sold my trk 5 years ago I had run into the point a min of 2x a month--and NEVER had a Hut sticker--never bothered--and never had a problem--know if u r gonna run the state--or even rest of city--diff story
Enjoy the trip -
Ahh lots of misinformation as usual with everything else in trucking. Here's what happened to us. Called new york tax dept 518-457-5342 was told that there are only two permit service companies approved to issue trip permits COMDATA 800-749-6058 and Custompermits 800-669-5014 i went with Custompermits as i could apply for a 72hr NY HUT trip permit online at www.custompermits.com They charged my credit card $50 ($25 permit and $25 their fee) and 3hrs later i had a trip permit in my fax. We're out of NY now and i can say no one checked our permit, so even if those cameras could pick up stickers that'd be completely useless. Hopefully this will clear up some ##### that's floating around here

oh yeah the permits must be approved by NY so you can only get them during the normal business hrs, so no permits on the weekend. We got it monday morning which worked for us.

Cameras will only pick up HUT stickers if they're mounted per NY guidelines, which many aren't. But the trip permit is insurance really. If some car drove under your trailer and you didn't have it, you'd be in a world of trouble.
