Thanks for all the responses fellas =) So, how do you make money? If i'm paid by the mile and i spend 1-2 hours getting everything secure, is that time unpaid?

You make money by running consistantly. Your securement time is your securement time. The only thing you will get extra pay for is for multiple stop loads and tarping (not all companies pay company drivers pay extra for an oversize load.)

    Youre in Phoenix...going with Swift?

For the most part yes, some Companies still pay "Tarp Pay"
I can sit here and write chapters on how to secure different loads on different trailers.
Until "YOU" get out there and learn it will do you no good.
I learned by watching others and then refined that into what worked for my ability.
I continued until I "perfected" and was much more "Proficient" then those I learned from.

As for money ? if your paid by the mile you must ROLL !

:biggrin_25510:General 01 Dude, here's the scoop, OK. You only get paid to tarp a load, not un-tarp. You do not get paid to secure the load, but consider this. I have delivered lumber loads, steel loads and much more types of freight, and was unloaded in less than 10-15 minutes. Same with getting loaded. Most loads are done in 20-30 minutes. So, what's the difference between spending hours getting a van loaded/unloaded and messing with lumpers/dock personnel/security guard shacks/office personnel that take forever to sign off? Anyone can pull a van, not everyone can do flatbed....
