Ok, so they need a medical card... but no CDL if they stay inside the 150 mile radius... even going to another state? Seems the Fed DOT does not agree.

According to my USDOT auditor, I didn't need a CDL even when out of state on farm exemption, as long as I stayed within air miles. I know of lots of people running on farm exemptions and crossing state lines, who aren't aware of the USDOT enforcement they fall under due to interstate commerce. There's a little bit of communist in me that comes out when I think about all the compliance stuff I have to deal with that others don't, but I'm able to suppress it so I don't rat anyone out.

Ok, but this is a contradiction. Either they are involved in Interstate commerce and have to have all credentials that involve this, or they are exempt from having it due to being a farmer. Contradiction in rules... yet again. It's like telling someone, sure you can pee in that side of the swimming pool... but NOT the other side.

I agree, I also got scolded for not having a driver file on myself, including a list of questions asked during the interview and the responses I gave to myself. I specifically asked for clarification on that part, because I didn't think even the government was capable of being that silly, but yes they are. The auditor spoke very broken English and when I asked for her to cite specific regulations on a few things, she was unable to read English to any extent that would be acceptable to me when I was hiring employees in the factory I used to manage in.

My point is this, with a contradiction like this it leaves it open for say, one DOT officer to write a citation on this, then another DOT officer(perhaps a ex farm kid) to NOT write a citation... on the same offense. Although I'm sure this still happens quite a bit.

Is the trailer empty? Your employer is Agriculture based and you are pulling an empty trailer needed for planting? Just get a Medical Card at your doctors office. If a cop cites you for that, he is just being a d..k

I'd like to think a farm kid would be raised right and wouldn't turn to a life of crime.
