And then that's if you have anything left on the 11 or 14 balance after coming out of 8 hours sleeper....

Advanced Pro Tip-- arriving at HD with time ticking down, use minimal time On Duty to represent checking in then log sleeper immediately if you have a balance of time in the summary field. After 8 in the sleeper see, you will be legal to drive off however many hours you had before you arrived at HD, minus pretrip time of course if you so chose to do that.

No, not true at all. In order to use the 16 hour exception, you must have returned to and ended your tour of duty at your work reporting location for the last 5 tours of duty. A tour of duty is not necessarily 14 on, 10 off. It could be 3 on, 10 off, for example. Which could allow the use of the exception more frequently than once every 6 days.

This is also not true. Before using the 16 hour exception, you must have established yourself as a 'local' driver. Which means that you must have returned to your work reporting location and ended your day there for the previous 5 tours of duty. IF that requirement has already been satisfied, THEN a 34 hour restart will allow the use of the 16 hour exception without having to satisfy the 5 tour of duty requirement.

This is not true at all.

    This is 100% true.

Basic Pro Tip - You're not allowed to log sleeper if you drive a day cab.

..... what in your rules qualifies as a short haul driver?

I did put 6 days, but it is actually 7 days.

And..... I'm talking to the original poster who I believed to be home everyday. So my post has been misconstrued by you. Being back to the yard for the previous 5 days prior was a F up on me for not posting it. I should have asked the OP more questions about his job before posting.

So incredibly sorry Windsmith for assuming.

That's the whole essence of why the FMCSA is pushing for e-logs.

It's not because guys ran out of hours sitting a shipper or receiver, so they go over to find parking. It's because of idiots who get 3-4 hours in 3 days and then kill somebody!

Like speed kills is referring to a guy going 90 in a 65 zone, not 66 in a 65.
