It has been right at a month.... but was off for a week because my trainer got sick. Were getting over 5000 miles a week average so far. My instructor started me out slow, when starting PSD, you can only drive 5 hours a day for the first two days. I'm a tnt student now, so I drive as long as needed.
I don't always drive out my clock.... only when we must get there. I drive until he tells me to pull in somewhere so we can swap out. When I upgrade in September and get my own truck ill try to keep it so I have hours left.

Since the company side has to maintain the minimum fuel economy thing, its more conducive to trying to average 8.75 on-duty hours a day - when the schedule allows. 8 days, 8.75 hours per day gives you your 70-hour week.

That's what I'm planning on doin.... right now though I have to go as long as I'm told... this week its not as important because were both taking time off. well he is.

Well today I spent most of the day out on the pad talking to ppl. Got talking to a flatbedder. Tried to stay out of his way as he was working with a student, but wanted to see how the trailer moved since Im going to transfer over after I upgrade. I told him what I was doin and he offered to let me try doin the offsets, so I took him up on it. Very different driving a Pete w/ a flatbed, than a Cascadia with a reefer. No harder, but different. Did both offsets w/o any points, so I was happy. (I know they are easy backs to do, but Im still happy I was able to do it without touching anything.) Also hung around while him n another guy were showing the student the basics of securing loads, until Cage n HB showed up. A lot of interesting stuff, I think I will enjoy flatbedding when I can do it. (Yes I know it is far more work than reefer, but thats what I want, n I know ME, no one else does)

Spoke to a flatbed trainer.... Im definitly switching after TNT is over... He said I would have to do about 2 weeks with a trainer so that I can learn securement. It will also give me more time out on the road with a trainer in the winter. Hoping they will run me so I can learn how to drive in snow. I need to gain experience in this area.

Hello everyone I am planning on applying for PRIME pretty soon here.
Just had a couple quick questions i'm sure one of you could answer.
I have read most of SEEBs posts (thanks by the way it was nice to get a day by day breakdown of someone who went through the program recently.)
I am taking my CDL learners permit today right after i get my medical card from my doctor, I also informed my current employer that i will be leaving soon and would like to help them find someone to replace me...
so my biggest question is when should i fill out the app for prime? If they decide to ship me out there to Springfield do I have any say when? should i quit my job completely before i even apply? or apply now and state that i wont be available for a couple of weeks?
secondly, after reading all these threads im just super paranoid about being shipped out there and being cut from the program for some reason....I cant imagine why i would be im just nervous....
I have had 0 experience driving big rigs but I am a quick learner and have been studying the Utah CDL driving manual. Is there ANYTHING i can do to prepare any further? I want to be as prepared as possible, so me quitting my job and taking the risk going out there won't be a complete wash.
Thanks a lot! -
