Well for the first time Ive had to shut down for weather. Driving down I80 in Wyoming at mm 175 I started sliding around. Road was a sheet of ice. Watched the truck directly in front of me loose it and roll over into the ditch. A conway truck, I think. He was hammering down, passed me. My truck started sliding I began slowing down, trying to find traction. Saw him jacknife around and roll it into the ditch. I pulled over but was too far away to go back n help. That road was just solid ice. Watched another truck behind me almost lose it. Two trucks in the ditch at mm 175.

Shouldn't have been taking your sweet time each day. Some of us watch the weather report and get ahead of the weather.
I was roughly 4 hours behind you by logs on Friday night in MO. Which means you parked 4 hours before I parked 130+ miles behind you in Kingdom City.
I woke early this morning (accidentally an hour late BTW) to read your location post and see your truck parked across from me in Ogallala.
You weren't there when I got there around 5pm local yesterday.
I bathroom break at Ft. Bridger today and see your post only minutes old a full 6 hours behind me in Cheyenne. Bewilderment was a mild description.
I'm in Brigham City 633 miles from Ogallala. Why? Because I knew I had to get what I could get because the weather was forecasted to get worse as the day went on.
What did I get?
I got what i needed to get, and missed everything I didn't need. Light flurries here and there. Mostly dry pavement, some small sections of wet pavement.
If you don't deliver on time, you better hope your FM doesnt checks your log book closely. It's all on you.
Shutting down was the safe and right thing to do. However you could have been at least 2 or 3 hours ahead of me and at this point sitting in SLC.
It's roughly 475 miles from Oak Grove to Ogallala... What a waste of a beautiful sunny Nebraska Saturday yesterday.
You can try and claim your running against your 70. However, You'd still be farther down the road from where you are now because you would have beat me to Ogallala, and left before I did around 5am.
Time management.silenteagle and 123456 Thank this. -
I cant read anything he posts. Im keeping it that way for a reason.

Yesterday I got my new job, Chico CA to Fargo ND. Picked up today at 1130, so I had all day to blow. Was thinking about exploring Reno, then winter clouded my mind. Jumped in and used the last few hours to get as close to Chico as possible. Glad I did, as Donner was closed for a bit, then chains the whole stretch this morning. Coming back, got lucky and the roads cleared by 11 when I came back over. I am glad that my trainer taught me that lesson that U2 was talking to you about. I would have been SCREWED if I hadn't moved toward Chico yesterday afternoon.
and think about this, if we didn't like ya, we would just ignore ya -
Ive been doin what I could to make my drop. I did make my drop, early. My 70 is gone til midnight. After which I get hours back. My trainer never bothered with saving hours. Never even mentioned clock management. Im tryin to make appointments on time. I made it through one of the most terrifying experiences Ive ever been through. I can assume there was nothing in there about not wrecking my truck. I watched a fellow driver possibly lose his life in front of me. I dont give a #-%+ about hours. I shut MY truck down for good reason. I was slipping n sliding. Even veteran drivers were shutting down.

For those that might not have noticed....
I talked to a guy in Pendelton today. He said WY DOT shut down the Eastbound lanes for a couple hours after several trucks lost traction and were parked in both lanes. He saw the mess and it was a parking lot on two different hills.
He also said that Westbound was open and the road was horrible and he was rolling at 25-30 miles an hour. He said he almost pulled over at the truck parking area but it appeared full so he was gonna find a place in Rock Springs. However, he said that right about the Point of Rocks exit the road went from snow covered ice to instantly cleared, plowed and wet conditions.
Said it was almost like the guy who was supposed to plow the section between there and Wamsutter had called in sick. -

I caught that!
ORD, If you saw the post you would see that U2Exit agreed with your decision to stop. It was the right thing to do. All he is saying is that it is more important to not get yourself into that situation in the first place. With what he posted you would not have been there for that storm.
Sorry for butting in; but the man is right. -
I know where he was and when from his 20 thread.
His breaks bridged midnight, just like mine... even if he was out of hours when he parked, he would have woke up in the morning after a 10 with hours to run.
He was in Oak Grove parked on a break long before the time I parked at 2100. 125 miles behind him.
I know he breaked in Ogallala because he said so, and I saw his truck.
He should have beat my 1800 arrival in Ogallala, and definantly beat me out of the parking lot at 0500 on Sunday...
And yet ended up 6 hours behind me in a mess of snow... He clearly didnt get as far as he wanted and his hours would have allowed.silenteagle Thanks this. -
The professional thing to have done would have been upon seeing him parked and knowing the storm was coming knocked on his door and said. Hey kid, I know we have our differences on the forum but there is a hell of a storm coming. Let's get out of here and let me show you how this is done. Not trash him on how much better then him you are at driving,or managing your hours on a public forum. That only makes yourself look more arrogant then what you are already percieved as being on here.
Please U2, your knowledge about Prime is much more then most on here and is welcomed by all. But we already have one DON LACY and another is not needed.
