Just came out of orientation this past week in Greer. I have to say it was quite professional and a good bit of info. They seemed to be honest and very professional. All that I came in contact with were very friendly as well--as they didn't talk down to you. We had a class of 21--around 8 of us with prior experience and most the rest just outta school. Either way--it was an informative orientation.
The first day was just drug tests/dot physicals--which they did it in 3 parts. Drug tests first thing...then a PA did the main part of dot--bp/weight/eyes..etc..then in afternoon the Doc came in to finish it up and sign off on it.
The second day was video's/payroll/benefits kinda thing--also took an "open-book" hazmat test--was kinda kool. We kinda did it as a class thing together. Most didn't have their hazmat's so was a learning experience for most.
The third day--we watched a few more video's. The "log man" came in to talk to us--a guy from shop came in to speak also. Also had a dm come speak with us. They all seem honest and upfront--didn't try to sugar coat anything. Also went outside with the log man and showed some stuff bout pre tripping and such -- in the rain... Also--the afternoon was getting everyone coded--which everyone made it through except for a few that wasn't ready to get on a truck--had appointments or such within a few days or so. They won't give you a code if you are not ready to go right then. You call them when you are ready to get coded and they bring you back in or whatever.
The fourth day--we took a SDD class and did some classes on the kiosk thing. Then got our orders on what to do. Most everyone left that day on a truck or was leaving by friday/saturday. There didn't seem to be a wait on mentors there unless you was picky--aka non smoking. There was one kid that desired a non smoking for flatbed but as there was none--he ended up switching to doing van so he could get a non smoking mentor.
All in all--it seemed to be very professional and upfront. They didn't try to push L/O on us at at all--Didn't really speak bout it much. They just said if your interested they gave you people to speak to.
At first I was reluctant to go to SWIFT--but i have to say it was from what you guys/gals have posted here that I chose to come here. Everyone that has let their experience be known here is a great help and hope all keep it up. Thanks to you guys/gals.
