.26 cpm why does that sound like minimum wages ..not trying to pry just asking questions.
-
Actually if you add up the hours you work, which will be 70 plus hours a week, it's gonna be less than minimum wage - no matter what trucking company you go to.
-
Really? ...well I hope my pre hire amount I was told isn't bs.that would blow.
-
Not sure what math you are doing, but .26 a mile, @ 2500 miles a week avg, which is about what I was doing on Grad Fleet, or for 90 fays if you will until the first raise, is $650 a week and at 70 hrs it comes out to $9.29 an hour, so more than minimum wage, and keep in mind this is an entry level position so it grows from there.
Does everyone avg 2500 a week? Not sure, I can only speak for myself and I did, I am also averaging between 2800 and 3000 right now, so at a >04 raise in just 9 months that equates to almost $300 a week more.
Choose what seems like the best fit for you and as I said, I can not speak to Swift, I have never worked there and I am not going to pass on hearsay, but my experience with Stevens is what it is.
CPM is one aspect, but they can pay you $10 a mile, if you are only running 25 miles a week, it still ain't much money. You have to factor it all in and the only way to gety true numbers is to talk to those who actually work at the prospective companies. -

Angelique, I just spoke with a Stevens trainer with a trainee at the Flying J just the other day. He has been with Stevens for over two years and was happy. They have some of the best trucks of the mega carriers, and all have APUs. Swift equipment does not. He did say that the training course is tough at Stevens, and they are self insured, so their physical is tougher to pass as well than many other companies.
angelique Thanks this. -
Swift has a very bad reputation here in Kentucky as being the top interstate killer. I have never worked for them but I run the interstate all the time and they are always dead on the side of the road or their cabs are sitting inside other peoples cars.

Im not sure which company if offered, what I would take but I think I'll get a few weeks of school under my belt and see what I can get for hazmat endorsement types of jobs . Thank you for the information.
