If you only knew how poorly they treat us. We have one driver that was recently diagnosed with cancer. They asked him if he could skip a few chemo treatments or maybe just go to every other one. He declined so they are making him run a route between his hospital visits. We will literally run you until you die.

Dang, man. I know they were hitting you HARD but that's just unfathomable. I'm sorry. Good for you having other options; I've always read and respected your posts. Shizz happens; be the better man for doing what you need to.
Had I not landed this tanker gig .... #### almost 8 years ago.... I might've been out of this world of trucking, myself.
Hats off, you know when it's time to hang it up.

If Swift doesn't work out, Wadhams Enterprises has a refresher course in New York.

Thanks. People don't realize this job ages you fast. I know the military will also kick my arse, but at least I will have structure and stability. Got a baby on the way as well. It will just be better for me and my family.

Nope, got my CDL from Teamsters in 2009,but was restricted by clingy woman and Army drills. I barely drove except automatic big rigs in Army & a 10 speed Milk truck (Class B). I'm pretty confident with driving on the road for the initial road test just not shifting without grinding. Especially doubleclutch. The recruiter suggested I use an automatic for the test. Then I'm going with mentor for 240 hours, wich I want to be a stick. When I get back,I'm taking upgrade roadtest to get my own truck.

Good luck. I hit 10 years in October & I'm on the fence about re-enlisting. I'm 47 & went to basic when they were taking up to 42 years old. I was 37 in boot camp. My age doesn't bother me but it's boring as hell. 12N (horizontal engineer). Once I get out,I can never re-enlist. The cutoff age dropped back down to 30. Good luck

That's interesting. I was called up one time for 24 months in the Navy. Had to go through "prior service" orientation. Then the Navy had billboards up all over the place trying to recruit "OSVETS" which are "Other Service Veterans." They had ex Army, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force that took the deal and they treated those guys like gold and gave them good ranks too. One was an ex-Army Major in tanks that had been RIF'd after about 14 years in the Army. The Navy brought him in as an E-6 Master-At-Arms. He would get Major retirement pay when he retired because that's based on the highest rank honorably held, regardless of military branch.
Just though I'd throw that tidbit of info in here.
