Maybe we get negative when we see a good driver ruined by lies or not given a chance from the start. Driving a truck is just not a job, it's a lifestlye. Some people work to live and some live to work. I perfered to work to live and enjoy life. And I do believe most of us started at the bottom. I know I did. But the big difference now is the way the companies are treating the drivers. There's more drivers than jobs so they know the can fire anyone for any reason.
I know a guy who's been at Swift 12 yrs now. Makes $850 a week and home every weekend plus a couple of nights during the week. What's bad for some is good for others.
Less than $45,000 a year with 12 years experience is nothing to brag about . But then many people give a priority to home time over income potential .
Just curious. What would your comment be to a driver works Monday thru Friday during the day, with weeknds off, who is home very night and made over 80K last year as a company driver? Drive safe

not so much anymore with housing prices declining for the last few years. I see housing here in the Inland Empire for less than what I saw in the bigger cities of TX. Only difference is I can be at the ocean or mtn's in about an hour.
This is what it all boils down to. If that person is happy or not. One might be happy making $500 a week, where another wouldnt be happy with $1000 a week. Some dont have a problem walking into a bank, and getting a $4,000 student loan. Some dont have the luxury of going to a community college and spending 6 weeks learning and getting your CDL, then spending another 4-5 weeks for someone to hire you and go thru their on road training before earning their own paycheck. One thing i find rather amusing, is that all the guys who talk the most about how much they make because of their 'experience', seem to forget that they all had to run for pennies a mile till they got some experience. and i totally agree...some drivers want to be home every weekend. Some companies just wont be able to accomadate you. You had better know before you start driving for them if that is the case. But dont judge a drivers skill level all based off whats painted on the side of their trailer.
