1 of 2 days of orientation done. Had to be at orientation at 7am today. First thing we had to do was drug test and physical. Then we got breakfast, packaged cinnamon rolls. Then we did some paper work and watched videos until lunch. For lunch I had the choice of 4 sandwiches, brisket, turkey, ham or chicken. I went with the brisket. It was ok. Then the rest of the day consisted of being on computer reading and taking test.

Keep it up, It will pay off in the end. -
Well it's the start of day 2 and my last day of orientation. Was told yesterday that we would have to walk to class from the mote about a 5 block distance because the shuttle doesnt run on Saturdays until 8am and we have to be at class 7am, and that we would have to come to the back door which is where I am but I guess I'm to early as no ones here to let me in. At least it's nice weather this morning.

wow sounds like a class act there.

Finished up my orientation. Day 2 consisted of more videos, lecture and test. Over all it was pretty easy and our instructor Bonita was very laid back and cool. Now I'm back at the motel waiting to be assigned to a trainer which I'm guessing won't take place until Monday. I'll keep posting updates, when I get assigned a trainer how that goes and etc.

I've got two questions from reading through this
Is the driver orientation and trainer period common for most or all the companies, even for graduates of a truck driving school?
And about alcohol - If you're out on the road and pull into a truck stop for the night or something, are you prohibited from having a drink before hittin the sack? It almost sounds like they don't want you drinking whatsoever when your on the job.
