My thinking is... You can take that turn too slow a hundred times, But too fast only once !

It doesn't matter what the truck is capable of handling. If he/she is not comfortable on curves, and feels better going slower, then he/she needs to go slower.
What a truck is capable of handling on a curve or a wet road is variable, depending on the road surface, load, distribution of the load, (top heavy, etc) If the driver is freaking out on curves, no matter what the speed is, they're more likely to screw up.

Running cool through the curves not only protects you but any person going the other way. Nothing like coming around a curve and here's some dillrod in a truck 1/2 way in your lane. Yeah that's a top hand.

I remember words of advise from the salesman that sold me an AWD sports car years ago, "With this car you can push the edge of the envelope, but if you get a little over that edge you will have a serious 'Oh !#)(*! experience'". In this I agree with OFTOTR, there really isn't a need to "push the edge of the envelope", especially with a truck. My attitude when driving is I'm not only trying to keep myself safe, I'm trying to keep everyone else safe as well.

Do not drive beyond your comfort, your new, confidence comes with experience. Try this, before you enter the curve let off the juice coast down to 5 mpf below the posted speed. then GENTLY! accelerate through the turn. this will stabilize tractor and trailer both and make your curve feel much smoother. b

You have to drive at speeds you feel comfortable with. There are so many variables that factor into what speeds you can take curves, such as type of load, weight, etc, etc. Experience will tell you, but it's always safest to take curves a little slower then posted warning signs, always better to get through the curve at a slower speed then try and go too fast and not get through the curve. Just look at all the truck accidents that happen on curves and you can bet your ##### they were trying to go too fast. As far as your mentor goes, good luck.

dieselgeek took the saying I wanted to use. You can go to slow around a curve a million times but too fast only once. I have a Jeep that is really bad in the rain. The other day I had a guy behind me that wanted to go fast and I was taking my time because it was raining. He flew past and shot me the finger. A few miles down the road I saw him off in the trees with his bumper ripped off and his trunk smashed against a tree. I loved stopping to see if he was okay ! I laughed and laughed and laughed! Then shot him the finger and drove away! Never let anyone make you drive faster than your comfortable with.

No one has even lost their job or killed anyone driving to slow. Your trainer is #######!

Take your time on all curves, on/off ramps, and especially during foul weather.

I was behind a Hunt truck a couple days back.
At every turn he would be at least 10-20 under the posted speed, but because of traffic I could not get around.
(so in a 45 MPH turn he would be going around 30, in a 55 he would be at 35)

Sorry, but if you are so unsure of both you and your trucks abilities that you have to be a dangerously slow driver - you should not be driving in the first place.
