We seemed to drift a little, when the original post was about going UP a hill, but that's OK, I enjoy reading all the posts. But you youngun's are spoiled with your dropping 1 gear to go up a hill. Years ago, I drove a Tri-axle Ford dump with a 238 Detroit and an air 4X4(WHEW) and going up a steep grade loaded, it was not unusual to downshift 5,6,or 7 times to get 'er over the top.
