    Roehl's ok to start out with. But your gonna get sick of there nagging about that idle time. When its not your fault,you been sittin in Florida for a day and a half in the heat. Your idle time will be up and they will be whining about you trying to stay cool. When they should be spending time running there buisness better,so they wouldn't have to nag you.
    And try that shifting early crap with 45,000 pounds in the box going up some mountain.Do it their way and you'll be doing 25,fighting 7th and 8th gear. When it would be a little easier tacking that detroit out a little more so you could settle in a gear and climb that hill at 45.
    One last thing,wait til the end of the year when you miss your bonus by a 1000 miles or so.You'll also lose out on the 3 or 4 cent mileage raise your suppose to be getting.
    My point....don't be that company guy they want you to be. Watch out for #1. They control your miles and they don't want you to meet your bonus. Good Luck Truckin!!:yes2557:

    well i aint braggin or nothing ...i promise... but... i rode with the ex-Roehler at my school today who is taking a refresher course for whatever reason.......if he got on at Roehl i think i have a decent chance too...cause he sure as heck didnt shift better than anyone else ive seen. at any rate.....just two more days of school left next week. im ready to take my test and get it over with. hoping like heck it dont snow or freezing rain on Jan. 6th cause im riding a tight window here. sure cant have anything go wrong or i'll never make it to gary, indiana on the twelth.

    Nobody expects someone out of school to be a perfect shifter. After a while, it'll come naturally to you (at least for most). If you're away from the truck for quite some time, you'll need to get back into the groove of things. Unless you give them the impression you're going to drop the drive shaft your first week out, they'll only dock you a few points for grinding.

    i know its all serious learning to drive and all but these are the funny moments that make you stop...take a deep breath......and remember do the best you can...apply yourself by studying and let the rest fall into place where it may...life will go on ! but.....thats some funny ##$%# ,could you imagine me droping the drive shaft? lol....you know darn well i'd have to blame it on the truck......man would that suck ! i guess i could say " did i do that ? "

    I know you're refering to shifting when you're talking about dropping a drive shaft, BUT!! It could happen to you!! Imagine, long day, backed into the parking slot, set the brakes and forget to take the truck out of gear before you release the clutch and shut it off!!! Wheeee!!!!!!! Lots of fun!!!:biggrin_2551::biggrin_2551:

    I've seen it happen.....:biggrin_25511::biggrin_25511:

    Enjoy and be careful out there!!! Cheers!!!

    well one more day of school left. going in friday and monday after my dot physical for Roehl to stay fresh. not required to but what the heck. seen three Roehl trucks today while driving. one flatbed in a truckstop at rt.35 and int. 71 ( didnt get to talk to him which upset me ) the rest were van drivers going east on rt.35. really hopeful Roehl works out and this dang economy gets better... screwing all my plans up. all we can do is hope. >--->

    I'm looking for flatbed, the Roehl recruiter came by the school a couple weeks ago. I've got a pre-hire with TMC but they have a 7 week training plan total at $300/wk, how does Roehl stack up with that? Do they get you in a truck after training or do you sit long enough to require refresher/rehire?

    -Edit
    I talked with my Roehl recruiter and submitted an application today, five of them in fact.

    Pretty sure it's $60/day evo 1, $65/day evo 2, at least 20 days of training, sometimes a little more. If it helps your decision making process, I unloaded at 8am yesterday morning and didn't get a load until 1030am today. Perhaps a company that does ONLY flatbeds would be a better choice (TMC/Maverick) if you really want to flatbed, and want to earn some money.
