at 75 your fired? what about going down mountains?
glad i drive for a company that doesnt have satellite -
I believe the logic train is thus: If you get their truck to 75, you're either ignoring their rules, or not in control of the truck, either way, they don't want you around anymore.
Roehl just got into the Reefer business, buying "Blume Farms" seems that a lot of guys are diving for their trucks, since they're not governed yet.
Our Saftey Dept. appearently yells at you, if your "Hours Driving" and "Miles driven today" equal 60 mph. and they scream if it hits 65. -
well you are suppose to downshift if necessary and maintain your speed.

75 mph GOING DOWN A MOUNTAIN???? Lucky to live long enough to BE fired - omg. I hafta go lie down after thinking about that. -
Hey Kat, what's the percentage you are allowed to have to pass the written test and do I have to know questions pertaining to buses and tankers? -
Whispers, I'm in GA; I don't what each state requires you to pass but here it was 80%. There were 25 questions on Gen'l Knowledge, so I could get 10 wrong. The rest of the tests were 20 questions maybe 30 on HazMat. There weren't any school bus questions on the GA test - that is Class B License here (don't know about anywhere else, could be the same). Do you have to have to be registered for "Highway Watch" in your state? GA has started requiring this for CDL holders:

Tankers are a whole different section of our book; there weren't any tanker questions on the Gen'l Knowledge or Combination section that I remember. In GA, I had to have Gen'l Knowledge, Airbrakes, and Combination for a "no-frills" Class A CDL. I went ahead and took the tankers & doubles/triples test and Haz-Mat.
My brain was fried from studying, my left leg was killing me from double-clutching (why is the clutch way up in the air and the gas/brake down on the floor???) and my right arm was near about broke from shifting gears. Plus the seat cushion on one of our older practice trucks was coming out so we all had upholstery tacks poking us in the rear. Plus we haven't had rain here for months so the gravel part of our yard was a dust bowl. And hot!
And you will love it -
Lkat, where in Ga are you? What all did you have to take on your skills test. In other words which backs. I have people asking me all the time...
Alan -
I belive that the passing percent nationwide is 80%.

Congrats whispers...maybe I will see you and your hubby on the road...that is when I start driving
