Okay, well I waited over a week to hear back from the job through email and phone. So it looks like I am going with Swift, I should get an email from the local company telling me I didn't get the job by next week. So yep just wanted to update y'all.

Just think you misunderstood. If you already got your CDL you go out with a mentor. If no CDL you go to academy. If you have CDL and a little driving experience you do 50 hours with a mentor.

I was just at the Syracuse terminal. Truck needed repairs and I got in a mandatory continuing education type thing done. I stayed at the Carrier Circle Hotel which is where SWIFT puts up it's drivers. Very nice! I am an O/O so I had to pay but the SWIFT rate is 39 bucks and these rooms go for 100 a night. Several nice restaurants within walking distance.

    WanabeTrucker Thanks this.

I'll be heading up to Syracuse, NY.

That's where I am heading up to Syracuse, I am going to call my recruiter and let him know I am good to go for July hopefully I will be able to go then.

All I can say is to most companies you are just a warm body that can be replaced. A lot of companies talk a good game but they don't care about you in anyway. Even if you own your truck its the same stuff. Like me am working on buying my own truck. And work for myself so don't have to deal with company bs if I don't have to.

Isn't a Swift mentor is just another name for crash test dummy?

What I think is that you need to RUN as fast as possible from swift.

They weren't doing that in Phoenix when I was there. Experience or not everyone had to do the full term.

I have my CDL already but I've been out of school since October (Graduation) and had my CDL since November 2009 and never got any experience since no one will hire with out the magical 6mts-1yr. So I will have to do the entire 240+ hrs/6+ weeks.

I've heard from a buddy who worked for Swift out of the Ocala Terminal that he had to go out with a mentor for 2 weeks (he had 3yrs experience) this is a few years ago and we all know information changes. But I was just tossing that out...:biggrin_25511:
