Just got an e-mail from Lowe's finally telling me that they didn't hire me...well DUHHHH. Here's the E-Mail:

    Dear Joey

Thank you for your interest in the position of CDL A Delivery Driver, Job ID# 194483BR at location 2327, Derby, CT. We sincerely appreciate your interest in career opportunities with Lowe's. Regretfully, we have decided to pursue other candidates at this time.

Lowe's home improvement stores? You didn't pass that stupid entrance evaluation. I didn't either. I started letting my wife take them when I was looking for work as she seemed to know what the tests wanted to hear lol. I actually got callbacks after that! Seems that's all big box retailers care about these days, experience and qualifications be ######!

When I tried to get into management at Walmart, I flunked the test twice. I talked to a coworker who passed and she said, "Shoot you should have told me, I'd have given you the cheat sheet everyone uses!" So much for testing weeding out unqualified candidates! I guess it worked for me lol!

I never took a test, I did those stupid interview questions they give you. They had 3 applicants and were hiring 2 so they called me back in for another interview which I did and was told about the 2 positions and they would call me to let me know by Monday which was about 2 weeks ago and they got back to me at 3 or 4 am via e-mail.

Ahh good ol' Wal*Mart, I worked there in receiving for a year, never again! lol I dunno how many time I opened the back of a trailer only to be greeted with a remix trailer full of mountains of liquid detergent falling on my foot amongst other bs bahh I had a lot of fun tho.

Looks like I will be placing Swift on hold once again. Another local job popped up driving a Class B truck 3rd shift for 12 bucks an hour or a floater shift for 12 bucks an hour either way I will get lots of over time. The place is about an hour from me I don't know the name of the place since I am applying through a staffing agency so come Tuesday I have to go up to the staffing agency and turn in a 35 page application along with my MVR/DOT Phys/CDL and SS Card.

The place requires experience BUT the guy said hey doesn't hurt to try so hopefully I will get an interview on the same day and I should start that week if everything is copacetic .

I'll keep you guys updated. I'm trying not to get to hyped about it since I am always let down but we shall see maybe I will get lucky this time.

Update: 1533hrs (3:33PM) I am looking through a website and what do you know Lowe's is hiring a driver, so I said what the hell and applied for the job let's see what happens there at least it will be using my Class A. I've applied 3 times this will be my 4th time. I'm a persistent sum'ma bi**h!

I'm definitely gonna tell them about my little journey!

I was over the road with Swift for a month of training. Great trainer but the company sucks. I left because I decided trucking wasn't for me, but aside from that our clutch was going out and we drove from Ohio to the Swift terminal in Michigan for repair. After waiting 2 days they sent the truck to a dealership for repairs. After another 3 days the dealership still hadn't touched the truck and they finally gave us another truck.
My son also works for Swift. He started about the same time as me. Although Swift says you can have one day home time for every six on the road, if you leave your truck for more than a day they will take it. He's had to wait at least 3 weeks for another truck. The trucks he's been given have all broke down and he's had to wait several days for either them to be repaired or replace. He's been off the road more than he's been on. He's not making enough money to even pay his basic expenses.
Swift apparently has hired several more drivers than they have trucks. They're takeing new drivers out of the CDL schools on a continuous basis and paying them 25 cents a mile. The problem is you can't get a truck.
On one occasion my son broke down on the scales about 10 miles from the Swift terminal with a dead battery. It took them over 4 hours to bring a replacement battery while he had the scale tied up for all that time.
My advice is to stay away from Swift.

Talked with the Swift recruiter I guess he got the paperwork he requested. He said he is waiting for my Drivers Abstract from the DMV and I am looking at July 26th for Orientation. Just wanted to throw that information up.

Alright well, I am starting to sound bi-polar BUT Lowe's called me back the one I originally applied for they want me to come in and take another drug test and they are gonna initiate a background check on me and offer me a job if everything goes well (which it will). I swear finding a job is nuts hopefully I get this one if not I still have the date set with Swift but if everything goes into the positive with Lowe's I will cancel so they don't waste their time and just in case I have to use Swift in the future.

Alright guys just sharing the update. Later!

yeah swift runs all 48 states. i actually had a good time with my trainer when i was with them. even though he and i were complete opposites. i was actually out of the syracuse terminal i thought it was a nice terminal. my dm was eric paccone the best you can ask for he worked with me on every issue. i thought swift was a cool company but just be careful with them. my opinion is go out there get your experience with them and get out thats my personal opinion. i know my name says swift hater and the reason for this is they put something on my dac report which was very untrue. basically i was rear ended by a civilian driver the state police found her at fault and citated her. but when i was a rookie with them i didnt know about dacs all i know is i was brought into the syracuse terminal and put on probation for something i didnt do. stupid me i agreed with it. then a week later while pulling out of a dock at a michaels store in occoe florida with my doors still latched open the chain holding one of the doors latched open basically was crap and broke causing the latched open door to swing out and hit the building. but whatever i guess im responsible for my equipment any how they fired me days after. after that i couldnt get a job anywhere except a flatbed gig that runs new england and upstate new york. anyways just be careful and use them for the experience and get out. i wish you the best and i hope you dont have some of the issues ive had take care and be safe
