LMAO! that is one thing that has irritated me about training. it usually takes me 3-4 tries to get my seat adjusted when changing drivers. if my seat isn't just right, seatbelt fastened ETC, i just don't feel right in the seat.:biggrin_25511:

lol I understand your pain. It's amazing how the seat being one notch too far back or forward can change your feel while driving isnt it?

If I can tell you one thing, do not tailgate! I have seen it get drivers killed playing the "drafting" game. Out in the middle of nowhere I like to have a quarter mile in front of my truck if I can. Probably 90% of drivers do this all the time I have been guilty too.

I always liked to keep a good cushion in front of me in heavy traffic too! Not a quarter mile, but a decent one. Unfortunately, it usually gets filled up with 4 wheelers pretty quick.

I, too, like space around my truck.

Windows up, AC on, Stereo blaring the Blues Brothers version of Sweet Home Chicago (though that can get old after a week or two)

Getting the seat right is one of the most important, but un-talked about, aspects of driving. If it ain't right, you ain't right, and nothing will be right all day.

A little tidbit I came up with on my own... no matter how heavy the load, the first thing I do when I pull away from the dock (or repower) is brake test. immediately get a feel for how the load will brake. Set yourself a spot on the lot and see if you can stop on or before it. Try it at different speeds,if you can.

Sure, you know each load will be different, but I prefer to feel it before I hit traffic and maybe guess wrong. I hate the smell of hot brakes.

Heres a different kind of answer.
Id say one of the most important traits to have would be a good attitude. Trust me, people will try you every waking minute, and with a good attitude, you will prevail.
Next would be understanding. Understanding that people do stupid things because they cant or dont want to help it. Getting worked up over someone elses stupidity will only affect you.
    Good luck!
