    Well ladies and gentlemen,

It's been a hell of a ride, but I think its time to call it quits for US Xpress.

My partner and I are (hopefully) going to a different company that is a lot smaller and not a training company. Now don't get me wrong, I really don't have much to complain about US Xpress. They gave me and my partner the chance to get on a truck after school and we stayed with them for a full year.

There were only two things that really made us say "man we have to jump ship" and that was when we are on our 4th truck in three months, combined with slow freight + being a reefer team. The time sitting at shippers and receivers isn't worth the 1 cent extra in pay. Combined with constant break downs, "slow" freight and reefer, these few months have been hell.

When we were running we were getting close to 6000 miles a week (not bad for reefer). However now avg miles with breakdowns plus the time of year, we are getting close to 3500 to 4000 a week. Just not enough to justify being away from home a month at a time and missing my girlfriend and his wife.

Not sure if the company we are going to will be better, but at this point we don't have much to lose. The company requires 1 year experience for hire, and has only 1 fleet manager for teams. (They only have about 30 teams in the company) so I pray we'll do better.

if you're reading this thinking of going to us Xpress, don't look at this as a negative post. We made good money for 9 months. We just got ###### luck after our 1 year mark and have decided to finish out our last year with a non-starter company.

Anywho, be safe out there drivers.

Appears there were more than "two things that made you jump ship". ;)

Smaller regional companies are the way to go if you can. The mega-starter companies are just that...starter companies
