You have to make sure it's a 2sc2999D. The 2sc999E (which is popular on fleebay) has a higher gain than the "D" has, but it also raises the existing noise floor in the radio too. I've watched several videos and I personally couldn't hear any difference using the 2sc999E. I guess they were convinced it was better since they did all that work swapping it out.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Okay, now back to good CB shops..... LOL.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Here's the data sheet from the supplier and I'm not noticing a d or e.
They only offer one type for sale and whichever one that is, it's the same ones that were used in the 45 mile Cobra 29 video.

Okay, if you look towards the bottom of the specs, they show the 3 different classes. C, D,and E. The low hFE gain for the C is 40, the D is 60 and the E is 80 with a high of 200. The Sanyo appears to cover all 3 classes, which is interesting.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

the Sanyo is the only one worth getting

I was looking on the mouser website, and it appears that Sanyo has been bought out by some company named "ON". I've never heard of them.

Those parts are no longer manufactured from what I understand so once the supply is gone it's gone that's why I didn't mention the name of my supplier.
